Amazing READ!!!

What made the experience of listening to The Laughing Corpse the most enjoyable?

I would have to say the story that Laurell K. Hamilton wrote. She pulls you into Anita's world and I loved following her along on another one of her adventures.

What did you like best about this story?

I would have to say that I love the action and how Anita kicks anyone who stands in her way with her own special way.

Which character – as performed by Kimberly Alexis – was your favorite?

Anita Blake is my favorite with Jean Claude a close second. Honestly all the characters that Kimberly does are amazing. She is an incredible Narrator.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile and then I was biting my nails as Anita fought the bad guys.

Any additional comments?

We find Anita Blake in trouble yet again. Harold Gaynor a wealthy man offers Anita an obscene amount of money to raise a 300+ year-old zombie. The only problem Anita doesn't do human sacrifice. All the while she is embroiled with the police in a mystery of bodies being destroyed by what appears to be a rabid zombie. Could the two cases be linked? What will she do about Mr. Gaynor when he won't take no for an answer and he will do anything to make Anita bend to his will? Another great story in this series. I love how Anita is getting sucked into more of Jean Claude's antics. I truly am in love with this series and I can't wait to read the next book. Another must read from Laurell K. Hamilton.

Choppy

I loved the story to this installment. With that said, it was very distracting when the narrator would say things like, "I said" after a long pause. There was enough of a space that it sounds like those statements were edited in after. If you can get past those spaces, you can easily lose yourself in the story. Very intense in parts.

miss the older books, new ones are just sex

to those of you who have not read this series;

you might want to read the first 8-10 books on your own before you listen, it makes it better when you already know the story, as Kimberly Alexis' voice judt doesn't match the Anita in my head.

for those of you who have read it;

what happened after the 10th book or so, i can reread the first 10 or so books, but after that, its just sex. I'm here for the story, the supernatural, the anger, the rage, the guns, the guts and the inner torment. I think that most of us who like the first 10 or so and not the rest as much, feel this way too, bcuz we can relate and fantasize that we would be her if the world was different. but once Anita becomes a sex addict with an excuse, I feel the need to skip pages/chapters, or it just gets to be too much. I am a big fan, have every book in hardcover, signed by Laurell K. Hamilton, and the paperbacks to actually read. i truly hope Laurell reigns some of this in soon, or I may give up. anyone else or am I being too hard on her??

either way, this is a great book, read and then listen to it.

Narrator good, Production not so much

The narrator was good, however the suspenseful music added throughout the performance is cheesy and distracting from the story. I will, most likely not choose another audiobook from this series for that reason.

I Enjoy Anita Blake Books

I have read the majority of the Anita Blake series and my favorite books are the first few because it is more about the story and figuring it out.

I also like the Anira Blake character. She is not perfect nor is she trying to be. She is honest and humorous. I like her sarcasm and comments. She is easy to like.

I believe the voice actor is very fitting. She is Anita Blake in my mind. She does good voices too which makes the story fun and easier to listen to.

Great Story But...

I love all of the Anita Blake books- excellent stories. The narration by Kimberly Alexis is a mixed bag, if she would just read the book in her own voice this would have been 5 stars. She tries to do voices that don't fix the characters and just don't sound good at all. Makes the book difficult to listen to.
And like others have noted, the sound effects and music are distracting in an audiobook.
