Publisher's summary

Moses is renowned as a great lawgiver, prophet, friend of God, and deliverer of his people. The events of his life, spanning four books of the Bible, resound throughout Scripture. In this epic undertaking, James M. Boice delves into the narrative to uncover its rich meaning and gospel application to our lives today.

We can learn a lot from Moses about faithfulness, prayerfulness, meekness, and good leadership; we can even learn from his sins and failure! But Boice shows how we can also look beyond Moses and the Israelites to the awesome power of God and the promise of a much needed, much greater Deliverer.

Interesting

Boice offers some thought-provoking commentary, worth the listen. Perhaps dated, but insightful. We were perplexed at the narrator's repeatedly referencing the Book of Philistines. He's otherwise such a professional. For those not familiar with the New Testament, "Phil" stands for Philippians.

Awesome book and we’ll written!

I didnt know much about James Montgomery Boice but I have heard Steven Lawson referred to him many times and how much his ministry has impacted so many lives. So I figure you can’t go wrong with Steve Lawson talking so well about him. I’ve done most of my study in the New Testament and was looking specifically for books on the Old Testament. The author did an incredible job breaking his life down. Moses is definitely someone I can learn a lot from and try to apply the faith he had in my life. Sometimes I have a hard time putting things into words I could only recommend this book to all Christians.

Agree to disagree

I agree with many who say that the title is misleading. The book does discuss the life of Moses but it's definitely not the main point of the book. Having said that, I very much enjoyed the book and all the connections it made from OT to the NT and Jesus's fulfillment of the law. I would absolutely recommend this book.

Excellent volume on Moses. Best I have read on this subject.

Good life lessons. Good theology. Good exegeses. It is rare, but I would read (listen) this book again.

This book was excellent

The book was excellent and the reader was mostly ok, except he referenced the book of Philippians as the book of Philistines throughout and any time the tribe of Levi was mentioned, he called them Levy like a lake levy next to a water dam, not as Levi like a pair of Levi jeans. Levites was also pronounced wrong as “lev ites” like levitation instead of normal pronunciation as in Lee vites.

A Sanctifying & Informative Read For Lovers of GOD

I just finished it and I want to read it again. It enhanced my Old Testament knowledge of GOD and intimate New Testament fellowship with HIM. I just love being in His Presence and this book substantially satisfied my desire. And excellent narration enhanced the entire experience as the content was superb.
