I read Moody’s original book in 1976. I’ve not had an NDE myself, but a patient I was consulting with, and the subject of NDE came up. He said “It’s hard to put into words, but I’ll say this: if it happens to you, you’ll never be afraid to die,” in the NDE, something I’ve not heard commented on as evidence, is if it’s not real, why would you only imagine seeing family who have died? Why wouldn’t you imagine a living loved one?

It has been many years since I read Life After Life. I hope to go back and read it again now. This book could very well be standalone without reading life after life. It is very inspirational and possibly life-changing. It was for me. If you’ve lost somebody, it is very comforting.

I highly recommend this book

I liked the way Dr. Moody backed up stories about leaving the body with what patients saw and experienced that they couldn't have seen while medical staff were actively working to bring them back from the brink of death.

All of Dr. Moody's books are formatted similarly to research papers in the way they progress from background info, methods, results, need for more indepth research, and wrap up. I always enjoy his writing and knowledge on the subject of near death experiences.
