Publisher's summary

Eli's trip to London with his uncle Harry quickly turns homicidal when the older magician finds himself accused of murder. A second slaying does little to take the spotlight off Harry. Instead it's clear someone is knocking off Harry's elderly peers in bizarrely effective ways. But who?

The odd gets odder when the prime suspect appears to be a bitter performer with a grudge...who committed suicide over 30 years before. While Eli struggles to prove his uncle's innocence - and keep them both alive - he finds himself embroiled in a battle of his own: A favorite magic routine of his has been ripped off by another hugely popular magician.

What began as a whirlwind vacation to London with girlfriend Megan turns into a fatal and larcenous trip into the dark heart of magic within the city's oldest magic society, the Magic Circle.

No one does intriguing magic and page-turning humor like John Gaspard. Pick it up and see if you can be the first to figure out the trick!

Magic at its best!

I love this series. It has mystery. It has humor. It has romance. And especially it has magicians. This latest book of the series is the best one yet. Each book could be read separately but I suggest you read them in order since each book builds on and adds to the total.

Unique Characters, Unusual Settings, Easy Listening

I recommend the Eli Marks Mystery series to readers who enjoy Quirky and Fun Mysteries. This series is great for driving or decompressing. LINKING RINGS kept my interest as I guessed Who Done It. Narrator voices characters differently so easily to distinguish. Fun “read.”

Superb mysteries

These are superb stories. The author applies an extensive knowledge of magic craft and comedy to fashion well thought-out mystery plots. All the facts are available to the reader/listener but the solutions are not obvious. The characters are three dimensional and likeable; the plots are both entertaining and instructive; and the narrator is skillful and sounds like someone you would like to meet.

Great series, narrator has terrible grating voice

Narrator has good reading voice until making character changes, then uses extreme voice fry, very irritating and unpleasant to listen to

Liked It

Very good story and loved the romantic ending! Had to wipe away a tear! The narrator is still irritating for me for the older voices but ... oh, well, I still enjoy listening to it non the less.

Fantastic Fun and Easy Listen

Every Eli Marks mystery is such a pleasure to listen to. The mysteries are presented in the form of fun stories without a high level of drama. Book 4 especially includes a lot more magic and behind the scenes magician conversations that make this series so special. The conclusion, as always, is very satisfying and tied up nicely. Each book can stand on it's own, with very little carry over from one story to the next.

Great addition to the series

Being a fan of both magic and mysteries I love this series. John Gaspard does a great job of bringing you into the world of a magician without revealing any tricks of the trade. He also has created characters that are enjoyable and draw you in. The mystery falls in the cozy mystery category and is a fun read.
This story finds Eli and uncle Harry in London. Uncle Harry is there to perform at the Magic Circle along with the Magnificent Magi, a group friends and contemporaries. The first night there uncle Harry is found on stage with another magician, who has been stabbed in the back. It is up to Eli and his uncles friends to discover the murder and clear Harry.
