About this listen

Solving crimes at a crusty old Florida inn was NOT in D.C. urbanite Lilly Livingston’s 5 yr plan.

But when she discovers she is the executor of a forgotten stepfather’s will and is gifted Magnolia Manor, in little Drifter’s Cove, Florida, things get a little off track.

The town coroner reports her stepfather died of natural causes, but Lilly is not convinced and joins a motley crew of locals to solve her first case.

Leaving D.C. for good, Lilly’s excited to start her new small-town life and reopen the inn. But, a murder at the grand opening of her newly inherited inn wasn’t exactly the kickoff Lilly was hoping for.

Distraught when a guest goes missing, and a local fisherman pulled up an unidentified body in his fishing net, accusations fly, the inn’s initial warm fuzzies fizzle, and Lilly found herself knee-deep in another murder.

Finally settling into Drifter’s Cove life with this murder mystery behind her, Lilly’s on her way to making the renovated inn an upscale destination and plans her summer kickoff party. But as the posh party ensues, personalities clash, tempers flare, and a guest ends up dead.

Loved the story line and characters but couldn't get passed the narration. If i could give it negative stars, I would.

ABSOLUTELY HATE VIRTUAL VOICE! Inflections at the wrong times, incorrect reflection for content, mispronounce a word one time, then the next time pronounced fine, very monotone, puts me to sleep unless I tune it out. Defeats the purpose of listening. Will not be spending my credits OR my time listening to VIRTUAL VOICE performances.

AI SUCKS

I cannot emphasize enough how much I HATE AI reading books to me. The inflections are off, pauses are off, as well as the monotone voice that is often used. I think from now on I’ll only listen to books read by a real human being.

Good short series

The stories were interesting which is what kept me listening. The AI narration was annoying. The diction of words was incorrect and it lack the emotion of someone reading. The scenes would have been easier to follow with a human narrator. There were also many confusing times with the he and she use throughout the series.

Virtual voice was weird

I am not a fan of the virtual voice. It doesn’t put perform real people. It sounds very phony.

Read with virtual voice.

I listen while working and the delivery is choppy and distracting. Intonation is strange and mistakes in editing are just read the way they are. An example in the first book is " she covered her hands with her eyes".

Hate virtual voice

Like everyone else, I hate virtual voice. I got this book free from Audible Plus but it’s not even worth or free. No more AI.

My first and last AI book.

The story line was great. Loved the characters. At least I know to never purchase an audio book again with AI reading. Emotionless, monotone and just weird. If it weren't for the storyline I would have stopped listening probably a quarter of the way through book one. I hope this isn't going to be the new trend.

virtual voice

The book might have been good except for the boring monotone of virtual voice narration. I am definitely not buying anymore books with virtual voice. Don't waste your money unless you read it yourself and not an e book.

Virtual voice

I HATE the virtual voice narration! It’s hard to distinguish between characters. Whar should be a question comes across as a statement. Very monotone. Bring back real narrators!
