Publisher's summary

1960s Brighton, England... Their special day… but for reporter Colin Crampton which of three mothers is in the frame for murder?

A dead body on a stormy night.

The cops who dismiss a murder.

The reporter who tracks a killer.

There are just four days to Mother's Day and crime reporter Colin Crampton is under pressure to find a front-page story to fit the theme. Then Colin and his feisty girlfriend Shirley Goldsmith stumble across a body late at night on a lonely country road. Colin scents a story when the cops dismiss the idea of murder.

Colin and Shirley flirt with danger as they investigate the killing. They take on a crazy hippie commune and a chemistry teacher with an unusual late-night hobby. And that's before they tangle with the mothers…

Laugh out loud fun!

I startled neighbors by laughing as I listened to this book on my daily walk. What fun it was! Peter Bartram has crafted a delightful story full of amusing, slightly over the top characters, and Matt Jamie brings them and the story to life. Mr. Bartram's writing is slick, there is plenty of cultural detail, and multiple plotlines ultimately diverge to make a tight, satisfying read or listen. Mr. Jamie's narration is easy on the ear and he does a great job performing the characters. The Mother's Day Mystery is set in 1960's England. Highly recommended.

Memorable Mothers Day

I love this author & narrator combination. The "God of Deadlines" could have so many more honorifics because of his ability to write a neatly clever woven story with many LOL moments.

Charming, Entertaining, and Just Plain Fun!

I have so thoroughly enjoyed every Peter Bartram book I've read--Colin Crampton is a treat. I *might* have a bit of a character crush on the guy. The books are engaging, the twists surprising, and the tone is saucy and hilarious. The audiobooks take the Crampton of the Chronicle Adventures to the next level! Matt Jamie does such an excellent job of capturing Crampton's attitude and Bartram's writing voice. The Colin Crampton books will always have a place on my must-reads shelf.

Great Story

I love British murder mysteries. This book narrated by the very talented Matt Jamie is worth having a listen. Matt brings the characters to life with his accents, varying voices and narrating style to keep this story entertaining and gripping.
