Publisher's summary

Kabbalah, it is said, was brought down from heaven by angels. The great mystics of Judaism originally passed its teachings by word of mouth only, believing that the secrets of the kabbalah transcended the written word. In this great oral tradition, The Mystical Kabbalah will immerse you in this authentic school of sacred wisdom for reaching peace through union with God. It is a way for you to experience directly this path of inner knowing, with Rabbi David A. Cooper, a master of the meditations associated with its practice.

On this complete audio study course, Rabbi Cooper synthesizes this uniquely-preserved wisdom with original kabbalistic teachings on the sephirot - the mystical structures that underpin all of reality - the Ohr Ein Sof - the original light of creation - and midrash - the teaching stories.

Complete with meditations developed by Rabbi Cooper during six years of work and research in the Old City of Jerusalem, The Mystical Kabbalah is the perfect introduction to this time-honored system for spiritual growth and self-discovery.

Great!! You will not be sorry!

Rabbi David Cooper is a great teacher. This audio presentation on Kabbalah is fanastic and teaches at many different levels. You can listen over and over again and find new treasures each time. This is one of the Best audio Books I have ever purchased. It is my favorite.

Understandable and Intuitive

I have read many books on Kabbalah which wound up as a door stop in my study because of the failure of the author to deliver a smooth transition to explain the abstract principals of Kabbalah. Finally an audio book that breathes understanding into these abstract principles! Rabbi David A. Cooper brings an intuitive narrative style that promotes full understanding of the abstract material contained in Kabbalah with very easy to understand tales and examples that explain these Kabbalistic principals. For a better understanding on the discussions of the Ten Sefirot peek into the book at a book store. The meditations narrated by the author were very calming and visual which were helpful in attaining a better understanding of the different levels of consciousness.

Whalespeak

The speaker in the book is so in awe of the information he is passing on to us that he sometimes uses "whalespeak". The Rabbi is a good storyteller though, and I enjoyed listening and also the meditations. The storyteller has given me knew insights on old matters.

Don't meditate while driving in the car I would say.

Needs Reference Materials / Narration lacking

While I really like the content of the book, it is extremely hard to follow because of the awkward narration and lack of reference materials. The author frequently refers to charts that are not made available to audible versions. Unless you have a hard copy or digital copy of the book you will have a hard time with this one. It's a real shame because the content is great.

A disappointment

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I purchased this book with high expectations; however, those expectations really were not met. What I expected was a teaching of the Kabbalah, however, what I received in this books was a rehash of information that I had already learned though many other sources. If the reader (listener) of this book had no knowledge of Jewish mysticism, they might find it interesting; however, without such knowledge, I fear the reader (listener) would become bored, and most likely wouldn't finish this book.

The narrator did a good job, it was presented in a very basic and simplistic way that is steeped in long stories to illustrate the most basic concepts that most people already know.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Mystical Kabbalah?

I didn't find one

Would you listen to another book narrated by Rabbi David A. Cooper?

Most likely not. Rabbi Cooper may be a wonderful teacher and speaker in person; however, his style of talking and teaching really doesn't come though well on a audible book.

Could you see The Mystical Kabbalah being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Wonderful topic and I could see the topic being made into a lecture series but I couldn't find "entertainment value" to a general audience.
