Publisher's summary

Fantastic! Fun-tastic! Fawn-tastic!

The Ona Pendulum is the exciting, award-winning second installment in The Adventures of Fawn series! It's actually two books in one, as Fawn and her friends not only find themselves on a rescue mission to save a magical device, but also witness the beginnings of the legend of Santa himself.

Fawns and her companions must stop an evil former elf princess from destroying the Ona Pendulum, a device that enables Santa, Wajic, the elves, and reindeer to live for hundreds of years. The citizens of Santa's Village - and Christmas itself - are all in great danger!

But before the young reindeer and her faithful companions can start off on their mission, they must first learn how a young woodworker named Kristoff Kringle went from his family's workshop to become the leader of hundreds of elves and an icon of Christmas.

They'll discover how he began delivering toys, how he met the elves, and where his famous, "Ho-Ho-Ho" comes from. They'll also learn about the Rua Ondos - wonderful, magical shooting stars which fell to Earth on the very first Christmas.

The Ona Pendulum is an exciting, fun-filled adventure for children of all ages!

Action-packed, Delightful and Lessons Learned

This is an action-packed book in which Fawn and her friends discover a mystery that needs to be solved; Santa and others are acting differently at times – almost like “shorting out.”  It does not take long for Fawn, Santa, and others to figure out they must return to the beginning – when and where Kristoff Kringle became Santa in order to solve the mystery.  Once there, they discover the problem is the result of an evil princess seeking revenge and power for a past slight.  Throughout it all, lessons are learned, and friendships are made.  It is also delightfully creative in explaining how Santa came to be!

The author, Al E. Boy has written a strong story of love, patience, family, forgiveness, and the power of Christmas. The story has a solid foundation, and the plot twists happen almost naturally.  However, they are not expected!  Boy is vivid in his imagery with details, painting a picture with his words.  The dialog flows effortlessly from one character to the next, from one situation to the next.

Pamela Tsujioka, the narrator, once again provided a strong performance.  Each character has a different and unique voice making it easy to tell the characters apart.  I also enjoy hearing her performances as she slips into each one easily (at least it seems this way) and gives us a more in-depth feeling of each one.

This is a book for listeners of all ages to hear.  I enjoyed this series and look forward to more.

There were no issues with the quality or production of this audiobook, it was well done and clear.

A Great Christmas Car Ride Listen

This is the second audiobook I've listened to that's directly aimed at children, the first being the first book in this series 'Til The Last Snowflake Falls. Sometimes it's difficult to switch into a book written for a child but I haven't had that issue with the books in this series at all. I think that, as I mentioned in the first review, it's Boy's obsessive attention to detail and writing characters that jump off of the page. Characters that I wanted to know more about and ones that I wanted to see succeed in anything they were doing.

I think that having recognizable characters mixed in with created ones like Fawn helps really root this story into the hearts and minds of its readers. It sure did for me. The other thing that I wasn't expecting while reading was the turns and plot twists that I would normally associate with adult thrillers and mysteries. But there were a few times I remember thinking "whoa, I did not see that coming".

Throw in the great narration by Pam Tsujioka, who absolutely crushes this series, and you have a series that adults and children can enjoy together. Call it a great road trip book for a family, especially during the winter months when lots of families are traveling for Christmas. I think this would make an excellent addition to the trip and might get the kids out of their devices and enjoying the talented writing of Boy.

The adventure continues

The Ona Pendulum is the second novel in the award-winning The Adventures of Fawn series by Al E. Boy. Appropriate and recommended for children and parents alike, these stories captivate and set free the listener's imagination.

In The Ona Pendulum, we meet again with our favorite reindeer, Fawn, and she takes us into another wonderous adventure alongside her friends and foes. The same level of attention to details is exhibited by both the author, Al E. Boy, and narrator, the talented Pam Tsujioka.

Pam brings once again Fawn and everyone else involved to life in a immersive and entertaining performance. Close your eyes, listen to her voice and you will be instantly transported to this magical realm filled with colorful characters and vividly described events. I highly recommend the entire series to everyone, regardless of age.
