A Smart, Easy to Digest, Business Book

If you could sum up The Only Negotiating Guide You'll Ever Need, Revised and Updated in three words, what would they be?

This "business" book lives up to the promise in the title. I appreciate the 20 bonus tactics as well as the general negotiating principals and guidelines. Peter and Jane are easy to listen too, and I had it at 1.25 speed and both are clear and compelling. Negotiating is a crucial skill in both personal and business interactions, and this book is a must listen if you have to deal with people in your daily life.

What other book might you compare The Only Negotiating Guide You'll Ever Need, Revised and Updated to and why?

I would say to also buy "Why Leaders Fail" if you are a business leader and want another part of the skill set that Peter offers.

What does Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I don't have time (or much patience) to read business books, so I listen. This book is a good listen.

Any additional comments?

This book would be great to use in High School or College business classes.

Well written and excellent presentation

A great read and very helpful for negotiating in real life and work life. I almost feel sorry for the car dealer I'm going to negotiate with next month... Almost.

This is childsplay compared to “Never Split The Difference”

After listening to “Never Split The Difference” by Chris Voss the material in this book feels like something you offer a Kindergartener. Perhaps if i had never heard the term “Negotiation” this book would be useful

list or outline of for instances

Would you try another book from Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty and/or Peter B. Stark and Jane Flaherty ?

no, it seems they have an idea of what they are doing but cannot effectively convey it

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

all information is useful some way some how, but this information that I paid for is not worth what I paid.

Any additional comments?

It seems to be a running reference list of things to say and instances, but there is no real instruction or theory to follow, there is no technique to practice and mold only repeated instances to back the claim that a win win outcome is best. there are other books mentioned in this one that I have read, and honestly the avocation of other books and services in a book that seem to be purposely placed is nauseating. I'm reading a book to learn something, not to be subjected to advertisements for the authors company (that I would have little confidence in after reading this). The swinging back and forth between the authors voices male and female gets confusing and lacks congruence, maybe if they did a chapter each is would be better. also I didn't appreciate the 5 minute dissertation on Obama's deal with Cuba and how the authors both are lovingly behind it, a mere mention of it like they did with Regan would have been fine. instead it points to a political view showcase that you may or may not agree to in the beginning of a book that is intended to be educational. that was just weird.
