Publisher's summary

Annie Hyman Pratt's family business, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, consisted of 7 domestic "mom and pop shops" when she took it over. In just 7 years' time she scaled it by more than 1x, turning it into an international brand of 7+ stores before leading the company through a highly successful sale.

Two decades later, Annie Pratt is a top-tier business consultant whose client list of 5+ companies and entrepreneurs includes Hay House, Jeff Walker, Gabrielle Bernstein, Susan Peirce Thompson, Erico Rocha, and Christian Mickelsen. In this new book, she puts the strategy that's transformed their businesses into your hands too.

Most business books on shelves today focus on either the structure part (systems and processes) or the culture part (visions and values). What's missing? The all-important "people part"-the often hidden, often misunderstood area of a business where team members and team leaders interact and have their greatest impact. And in a world where the rate of change is increasing exponentially, with burnout and overwhelm at epidemic levels, it's more essential than ever to get this part right.

As Annie reveals the power and promise of this missing link, you'll discover:

  • The secret of self-leadership-the way you show up as an individual in your work and how to perform effectively in the face of pressure or stress
  • The key to effective teamwork-the way team members interact, especially in times of challenge or change
  • How these two abilities together create the conditions for a business to perform at its best-and for leaders to have the positive impact they desire
  • A wealth of practical tools and techniques for creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, negotiating, and more

Critic reviews

“The first time I heard Annie speak about leadership and team building was a near-mystical experience for me. I immediately knew that I needed her help to grow the functionality of my team. That was nearly a decade ago, and since then Annie has had a profound positive impact on my business. Now she’s finally put her wisdom and practical approach into a book, and The People Part delivers. It starts with the first principles that most every other leadership book glosses over. This is a nutrient-dense book that will show you how to build a responsive and productive team.” — Jeff Walker, #1 New York Times best-selling author of Launch

“The productivity of your business, the effectiveness of your algorithms, your business’s ability to grow—it comes back to how well you’re able to get effective teamwork driving results. And Annie Hyman Pratt knows how to build teams that drive results. From having a visionary master plan that creates powerful team alignment, to helping your people reach their highest performance potential, this book can help you become the type of leader who attracts a growth-focused dream team. The people part of business is arguably the most important part . . . and with Annie’s help, you can have an amazing team working together to achieve the results you want.” — Joe Polish, founder of Genius Network

“Annie’s groundbreaking work in the area of team and leadership development helped our business undergo a remarkable transformation from one that Jim Collins would describe as ‘A genius with a thousand helpers’ to one led by a highly collaborative, incredibly cohesive team of senior leaders. Simply put: If you are an entrepreneur, small business owner, or leader in your company, read this book. It will transform your business—and possibly even change your life—forever.” — Ryan Levesque, five-time Inc. 5000 CEO of The ASK Method Company and #1 national best-selling author

Good book too slow

The concepts on this book are great but it was so boring to listen it. The author uses the same tone the hole book

Phenomenal book!

This book is essential for entrepreneurs, leaders, and team members to listen to and study. I bought a hard copy too to read carefully and use as a reference book. It has already helped me to better serve my clients and level up my self leadership and people skills. 💯

She’s the real deal

I had the privilege of sitting next to Annie Pratt at a dinner and I learned more about business casually talking shop for an hour with her than I have from a lot of day-long seminars.

There’s good reason: she’s done it. She scaled Coffee Bean from 7 locations to 70 locations, then through to a successful sale of the enterprise.

Since then she’s helped dozens of other businesses. More specifically, she’s helped their *leaders,* often the Owner-CEO. She helps Entrepreneurs with that oh-so-troubling transition from leading through grit and hustle to leading through, well, leadership.

When I saw her book was available I dropped everything so I could listen immediately to her book.

I recommend you do the same.

As someone in HR this is a best case scenario book

the book is fine and probably for individuals stepping into leadership or human resource type roles for the first time there's a lot to digest but for anyone that has been in these types of roles for even a year it's repetitive information
