Publisher's summary
Ned’s exhausted from his divorce, single parenting, and graduate school, so when his boss comes up with a plan to 'improve' work-life balance, Ned wants no part of it.
But Dr. Charles Henry Abbot, PhD has other ideas. Once Ned’s least favorite professor and now his infuriating colleague, Ned needs Abbot’s help editing his dissertation. With their newly limited work schedules, Abbot suggests the worst idea Ned’s ever heard: pretend to date. Convince their co-workers–and their boss–that they’re in a relationship and nailing this whole personal life thing . . . and each other.
It’s an awful idea, but, if it means a graduation cap, would faking a relationship be worth it, so Ned can finish his degree and move home to his daughter?
The Place Between is a steamy, m/m romance novel. If you like enemies to lovers, fake dating, and the thin line between bickering and flirting, then you’ll love this fast paced romance.
Buy The Place Between to watch Ned and Abbot’s fake relationship unfold as they stumble into the most real thing either of them has ever done.

Bookstore owner Aubrey Barnes likes his quiet, orderly London life, thank you very much. His shop may be struggling, his only employee is a menace, and his plumbing is one creaky pipe away from disaster, but he can handle it. Maybe. He cannot, however, handle the film company that's thrown his Soho street into chaos. And he definitely can't handle the charismatic American actor Blake Sinclair.

When fanfic writer Aaron Page landed a temp job with the creator of hit TV show, Leeches, it was only meant to last a week. Three years later, Aaron’s still there. It could be because he loves the creative challenge. It could be because he’s a huge Leeches fanboy. It’s definitely not because of Lewis Hunter, his extremely demanding, staggeringly rude...and breathtakingly gorgeous boss.

Yet somehow, we’d been best friends our whole lives - until our senior year when I finally decided to dip my toes into the dating pool. All it took was one kiss for jealousy, lies, and betrayal to sweep in and propel us heart first into dizzying, hostile depths. You’re not supposed to kiss your best friend. You’re definitely not supposed to kiss your best friend while you’re dating someone else.

When the only other virgin in her group of friends loses it at Keely's own 18th birthday party, she's inspired to take things into her own hands. She wants to have that experience too (well, not exactly like that - but with someone she trusts and actually likes), so she's going to need to find the guy, and fast. Problem is, she's known all the boys in her small high school forever, and it's kinda hard to be into a guy when you watched him eat crayons in kindergarten.

I’ve recently become the pawn of a meddling mom. Yes...a meddling mom - who's been trying to set me up all summer. Now, I understand it’s not a crime for a mother to want her child to fall in love, but when she makes it her relentless mission, the heinous act should be classified as a misdemeanor at least. Of course, my mom, the evil matriarch in the devil’s leggings, made her final stab at finding a girl for me days before I went back to college.

After that close-up of his package on the sailboat in Morocco, TMZ started calling him Crown Jewels. Not that I keep track of Prince Liam. Definitely don’t stalk him online like my friends do. I’m out of that scene now. My family’s reality show might still be running, but I’ve been off-screen for a while. When people pass me on the sidewalk, they might squint, but most of them don’t scream “Lucy Rhodes” and ask about my love of Lucky Charms or how my broken toe healed. Prince Liam - my stalking his Instagram - that’s just for fun. It’s my dirty little secret.

What I wanted for my birthday: Books. What I got for my birthday: my brother’s best friend playing matchmaker. Let it be known that I am 100 percent against being set up with somebody. And I’m 1,000 percent sure that Josh Carter's not the man to find me a boyfriend. I mean, if I’m so great, why isn’t he the one dating me? (For the record, I don’t know the answer. That’s just what the guy on the internet asked.) I’ll humor him. If I go on his little dates, he’ll teach my bookish, introverted self how not to be totally, completely, utterly, unforgivably awkward.

I can't say they didn't warn me. Right now, I realize: I probably should have listened. Because if there's anyone who has no business playing a sport that requires a helmet, pads, and a liability waiver, it's this girl. The same girl who once knocked herself out during a game of backyard baseball. I stepped up to the plate, pulled the bat back a little too far to swing, and clocked myself in the back of the skull. Boom. Lights Out Lucy. That's how I got my roller derby name. So yeah. Maybe I should have known better.

When a string of young queer men turn up dead in grisly murders, all signs point to the ex-boyfriend - but what should be an open-and-shut case is fraught with tension when BPD homicide detective Malcolm Khalaji joins up with a partner he never wanted. Rigid, ice-cold, and a stickler for the rules, Seong-Jae Yoon is a watchful presence whose obstinacy and unpredictability constantly remind Malcolm why he prefers to work alone. Seong-Jae may be stunningly attractive, a man who moves like a graceful, lethal bird of prey...but he's as impossible to decipher as this case.

But his need for stable employment in an expensive city is as dire as Rowan's need for an assistant to actually stick around. I loved this book, so I was thrilled to see it in audio. The fake relationship has become a trope in rom-coms, but this was actually in the realm of believability. The slow-burn enemies to lovers was believable as well. I loved Ned and Henry. I loved Ned’s dad. I loved practically every side character in this book. I even loved the dog. I highly recommend the story.
In terms of audio, I was unfamiliar with Jeremy Frazier, but I have no complaints. He wasn’t the way I imagined Ned, but I got used to it and it felt right by the end. He did a good job of evoking all of Ned’s angst. His Henry was pretty much how I had it in my head, though.
I rarely rate 5 stars because there is always something that maybe could have been better, but this is one of the few that has earned that honor.
I am now hoping for Kit Oliver’s Cattle Stop next.

cute
This author is new to me, but while I was looking for a new mm romance, decided to give it a try. now, I usually go for the spicy spicy books but this book was so cute and slow burn. if you are looking for a cute, light-hearted romance, give this a try. :)

An excellent opposites attract story.
The unrushed pacing was gratifying as well as the clues that were laid coming together in a very satisfying conclusion. The wry sarcastic humor of Abbot balanced by the middle class wit of Ned was sweet. Ah, opposites can and often do attract and this was a well wrought tale of such an instance. Charming and thoroughly enjoyable.

Loved this story
The story is told from Ned's point of view, and because Abbot is a guarded character, it takes time to understand Abbot's personality and motives. I think it would be really interesting to have the same story told from Abbot's point of view, much like Jay Bell did with "Something Like Summer" and "Something Like Winter." Just putting that idea out there! The banter between the two main characters--as well as the banter between Ned and his father--really pulled me into their relationships and captivated me. If I had one criticism of the audiobook, it's that the sound quality seems like it wasn't recorded optimally, so that when the narrator raises his voice, the sound quality distorts a little and has a grating tone. However, I got used to this after the first couple of chapters, and by then I was so engrossed with the story I didn't care anymore. Because this story is told in 3rd person limited voice present tense, I was immediately reminded of "Less" by Andrew Sean Greer, which was also a fantastic novel. I loved this story--it was sweet, funny, and engaging--I highly recommend it.

Not a credible story
This wasn't a credible story. Rating and review should not be tied together. I don't appreciate being forced to write a review so I can submit my rate.

What you would expect
Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcey if they were dudes and pretending to hook up because otherwise the duchess won’t give up the $.

This may be the worst thing I've read in my life.
The story was lackluster. The characters are one-dimensional. The narration is robotic. It was an hours-long snooze fest.
Unless you like stories with no actual story and a cast of characters that say the same thing for 200 pages, RUN!

3rd person narrative
It’s very annoying that the way the story was told.
The character seem flat and not real.
