Publisher's summary

When American covert operative Chase Fulton and his team suppress a mass shooting attempt in the tiny coastal town he calls home, the realization of how deadly his life has become sends him on a journey to separate himself from that violence and save his relationship with the woman he loves. The laidback holiday promises to rekindle the relationship and heal old wounds, until a brutal attack leaves a beloved friend fighting for her life. Chase has no choice but to put his experience, training, and lethal skill set back into action to find and eliminate the threat.

This time, though, his foe is fiercer, more experienced, and knows every trick in Chase’s book. The only solution is to play by a new set of rules, one with terrifying results orchestrated by an old enemy turned ally. As the depravity and brutality of the attackers is turned back against them in an unexpected late-night assault, the decades-old truth of their intentions is revealed. Former American operatives turned self-serving outlaws, thirty-year-old grudges, greed, and Vietnam-era tactics combine to create a mystery only Chase and his team can solve.

From the subtropics of Coastal Florida to the rugged and unforgiving backcountry of the Appalachian Mountains, this action-packed thrill ride promises to deliver historical insight into modern-day evils and leave you gasping for breath.

bring back Kyle Tait

I've love this series, but not the new narrator. Please Please please bring back Kyle Tait as the narrator. The only character in the book that has somewhat of voice familiarity is Anya. Accents are completely. I think I can speak for most with wanting Tait back !!

Enjoyed the story but don’t really like your new narrator. Looking forward to the next one.

New Narrator

After listening to 10 books narrated by Kyle Tait, it was a shock to listen to the very different narrator, P.J. Ochlan. At the beginning, I struggled and was tempted to give up, but I plowed through and became accustomed to P.J. Ochlan’s voices and inflection and started to enjoy it. I still liked Kyle Tait much better but P.J. does a good job.

Tait

Whatever he charges, it’s worth it. New reader sounds like a broken record. Changes context.

Why did you change narrators

The new narrator is absolutely awful, not sure why they switched? If I wasn’t a fan I would’ve returned the book!

Bring back original narrator

Ugh! As always, great story. But this new narrator?? Changes Chase into someone else entirely, along with all the other voices. 😢

Bring Kyle Tait Back

I'm not sure why the author or publisher felt the need to change narrators after 10 books in this series but it was a terrible decision. P.J. Ochlan is not the worse narrator but over the course of an audio book series the narrator and the characters start to develop a relationship, bringing in a new voice throws everything out of balance.

Always a relaxing read

I have enjoyed all the Chase series but I must say the 11th book has a new narrator and I didn’t care for him. I took into account that I was so used to the previous guy but I just liked how the previous reader presented the story and characters better. I did like the new guys portrayal of the Russian better though

Narrator change

My husband and I have LOVED this series! I’m not sure why they changed the narrator in this book but it’s devastating. He has taken all the conviction out of the voice. He sounds like a comedian. I’m so sad that I’ll probably have to stop listening to this series because of this terrible change.

The storyteller is vital to the story

Changing the storyteller in the middle of the story is almost like changing all the characters. The voice, the inflexion, all the things that make a storyteller great suddenly changes. The story itself, was, as always, fantastic!
