PRETTY DARN COOL

I admit, I hadn't heard this tale anytime before listening here, and found it really good!

Great story, wonderfully narrated, and definitely had a lot of complexity to it for a kids' book - really enjoyed it, and kids who have listened have enjoyed it too :)

Nothing is so strange as the unfamiliar

I enjoy getting fairy tales on audible and podcasts to share with my kids. These stories are almost always best when spoken aloud rather than in print or turned into movies. It's just in their DNA. I was unfamiliar with The Prince and the Princess in the Forest so I decided to hear it myself before introducing it to them.

Holy cow.

I knew intellectually that all of the familiar fairy tales were pretty wacky but they don't FEEL odd because they're all so well worn and familiar. Even though primarily composed of common fairy tale tropes, The Prince and the Princess in the Forest feels so much more bizarre due to lack of familiarity. I wonder if this is what all of the tales sound like to my kids.

It's been a very long time since I've experienced a new fairy tale and this one will have me looking at them in a new light now.

An adventure that makes a great bedtime story!

Another great tale by Clive Johnson. I liked the way Clive personified good and evil in The Prince and the Princess in the Forest. This story is a great way to reinforce in the little ones the importance of bravery, generosity, forgiveness and kindness. Clive Johnson’s soothing voice also makes this tale a wonderful bedtime story.

Clive Johnson never dissappoints

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. My kids and I have listened to other Clive Johnson's stories and we've loved them all. The prince and the princess in the forest is not the exception. I would totally recommend parents to get their books and use them constantly with their kids instead of Ipads and videogames. Thank you, Clive for your efforts to strengthen kids imagination and creativity with your books

Fresh New Fairy Tale

The Prince and the Princess in the Forest is a new fairy tale for me. It tells the story of a young prince and his mother who meet a robber and a princess in the woods. There is a lot to unpack in this little story! It has so many twists and turns, familiar themes and new adventures. Unlike many fairy tales, it doesn't have a moral at the end, although I'm sure parents can supply their own as they listen with their kids.

The narration was well done as usual, soothing and easy to listen to. I requested a copy of the audiobook, and I'm voluntarily leaving a review.

Cute tale

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I’ve never listened to this story before and I’m curious how much he added to make this more politically correct and women empowering. There are parts that would need a discussion by parents and other parts I feel present a good lesson.

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator/author ( Clive Johnson ) and I would listen to another. He reads with a lilting style that makes this obviously sound like a fairy tale. I don’t think I’d like it in a regular novel.
He had different voices for the various characters.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.

Food for thought

These old stories have so many layers and applications to be drawn from them. That is why that are timeless classics. This was no different. When are they going to make this story into a movie already!? I really enjoyed the story, the writing and the narration.

The Prince and the Princess in the Forest

This is a fairy tale I was unfamiliar with, so I do not know if it deviates from the classic tale. Clive Johnson did a nice job with the story and narration. At just over a half hour, it’s a great length for a bedtime story.

Wonderful Fairy Tale Adventure

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Clive Johnson adapt a fairy tale I was not familiar with. Its a fun adventure with tragedy, magical objects, monsters, riddles, romance, betrayals and more. I was surprised how much was packed into a half hour story! They should adapt this tale into a full length movie.

Clive does a great job on the narration as well. His accent and delivery make this the perfect bedtime story for all ages. He even does additional voices in this one. You won't be disappointed!
