Publisher's summary

The past is the key to the future.

Corry showed up at the orphanage two years ago, wearing strange clothes and speaking a language no one recognized. Corry can remember snippets of another life, but no matter how hard he tries to recall the details, it just keeps slipping away. Then one day, he meets a fauness in an orange grove. She's from a world called Panamindorah, and he can understand her language. In addition, Corry can read a language that no one in Panamindorah has been able to read for 300 years. Has he really been gone that long? Now he must recover his lost memories and rebuild his life, because the person who tried to kill him once is about to try again.

Wonderful fantasy story !

Where does The Prophet of Panamindorah rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The Prophet of Panamindorah: Complete Trilogy is a beautiful and deep story in a new land. It's a very engaging story and wonderful characters that kept me listening long after my commute was over.

What did you like best about this story?

The environment comes alive in this story with beautiful descriptions. The characters become a part of your life. Many tears balanced with sheer joy. These are characters you care about and their lives live on even after the story ends.

What does Abigail Hilton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The full cast readings are wonderful. The lead actors are very wonderful in their roles. This would be a different story without the cast.

A fascinating book well worth a re-listen

Where does The Prophet of Panamindorah rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I have listened to a fair number of audiobooks, and I would rank this one high in their number. The music was well suited to the scenes, the scattering of sound effects were well placed to accent the events taking place, and the narration was well paced and held my attention.

The story itself was excellent, with a host of memorable characters and several fascinating plot twists. The descriptions were vivid enough to make imagining the world and characters easy.

This was my second time encountering this story, and it was every bit as enjoyable as I remembered. For those familiar with the author's other major work, The Guild of the Cowry Catchers, there are tidbits and references that enhance the experience.

My only issue with the work was that the very beginning was a tad bit exposition heavy, but it was entirely necessary exposition given the complexity of the world, and is delivered in a convincing manner.

Barely put it down finished in 2 days

Would you consider the audio edition of The Prophet of Panamindorah to be better than the print version?

Haven't compared to the print version as I currently have more time to listen while driving or working. So listening has been more convenient.

What other book might you compare The Prophet of Panamindorah to and why?

The richness of the world races and characters and history leaves you looking for more. It reminds me of the complexity of Borderlands series by Terri Windling.

Have you listened to any of Abigail Hilton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not Yet but Guild of the Cowry Catchers series has moved way up on my list to read.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Corry's internal conflict over his father.

talking animals and magical creatures

I loved this story and am going to listen to it again. I sometimes wished for a list of characters, but I was mostly able to follow it. it might have been better served to have a cast like the author's previous fabulous work "The guild of the cowrie catchers", but I'm not complaining too much. This story is set on another continent of the same world, and has its own court intrigues, national alliances, and character development. Its not as sensitive a character study as TGotCC, but it is more layered and intricate than " Hunter's Unlucky". All three works are probably my favorite audible works to date. Sorry Tim Butcher & James Masters, you have been dethroned.

This tale is an excellent read or listen. The complexity & detail of characters & environment is amazing. There could be many many more books written just on the characters & it will leave you wanting more!

Fantastic Read/Listen for Young Adults AND Adults

Would you listen to The Prophet of Panamindorah again? Why?

Yes, and I have, several times...and so has my son. Both my son and I first started listening to this series in 2009 on Podiobooks and have re-listened to this series a couple times a year when we run out of audio. Honestly, the story is just as exciting as the first time. We love this world that Abbie has created. I have 5-6 hours a day chained to my workstation where we are encouraged not to talk while we work, but encouraged to listen to our audio devices...so I have many hours to consume audio. I love a variety of genres, so when I came across this YA Fantasy, I decided to check it out since I was looking for things to share with my (then) 9 year old son. The universe is rich, the characters engaging, and the dark themes are well balanced with lighter moments. My son is now 13 and loves it even more. Recently I was able to obtain the Audible version and love it even more as there is nothing interrupting my story.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Prophet of Panamindorah?

Honestly, there are many as this world is so large and you don't realize it until you are in the middle of everything. I think the moments that I think of quickest are those where you suddenly realize how something fits together and the world, and the story, expands.

Have you listened to any of Abigail Hilton’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This story was my first introduction to Abbie's fiction and found it on Podiobooks. Over time I have collected nearly all of her audio fiction and most of her paper/electronic fiction. I can say, I prefer full audio as it reminds me of old radio drama, but a good straight read is just as good. I can tell Abbie has gotten much better over the years, but I still love this first glimpse into the worlds of Abigail Hilton.

One thing I like about the author reading the story is that you hear names and words how the author imagined them. Sometimes when reading paper/electronic fiction, you say a name one way, but then later realized you had been pronouncing it wrong. Most people don't care, but sometimes a slight change in pronunciation makes things a bit different...the flavor of the world I suppose. With a story this long, one has to like the sound of the reader and Abbie’s voice is pleasant and easily understood.

I liked the musical scoring and sound effects as I felt they were appropriately placed and not overdone. It helps set the mood and does not detract from the story itself.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There are many moments that moved me and unfortunately I cannot find a non-spoiling way to discuss them in a review. Needless to say, you will find yourself attached to a character or invested in a situation…you will cheer, you may cry, you will cycle through many emotions by the time the journey is done.

Any additional comments?

This story can be dark at times and very complex. There are a ton of characters, quite a lot of action, politics and intrigue, myth and magic, with a few time shifts thrown in. The world building is amazing and I love all the different species and cultures, the history and mythology. You almost feel that this is a real place by the time you reach the end. Due to the complex nature, listening to it more than once, you will find things you missed in the first listen, which makes it a fantastic candidate for a re-read.

If you are an adult listening/reading this, you should check out The Guild of the Cowry Catchers as there are references here that will enhance your overall experience in this wonderful world. There are also many short stories in this universe that you may also enjoy.

An Introduction to Panamindorah

Where does The Prophet of Panamindorah rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book was produced fairly well compared to other indie books I've listened to.

Any additional comments?

This story gives you a lot of background information about Panamindorah which the author has other stories that take place in. However I did find that this story seems to have a lot of sub plots, perhaps its due to all of the author not varying the characters at all, but I found it somewhat difficult to keep track of all the different plots.
