About this listen

Jack O'Malley is a fireman who is fearless when it comes to facing an inferno. But when an arsonist begins targeting his district, his shift, and his friends, Jack faces the ultimate challenge: protecting the one lady who witnessed the arsonist. The fourth book in the O'Malley series brings back Jack O'Malley from The Truth Seeker in a page-turning thriller.

It's Christmas. And in this time of celebration, Cassie Ellis has found the real meaning of Christmas; Jack is still searching to understand. Who is Jesus? On that answer rests his hope that someone greater than he is in control of a situation spiraling into terror.

Excellent read

I think this was my favorite book in the series so far, 2 more to go. I love the salvation message, the camaraderie, and the family support they provide each other.

Character driven storytelling

What I like best about these books is that I cannot figure out the villain until well into the story. Subtle clues are given little by little so that the villain is not so obvious, but the story keeps our interest. I also like the character development and like the characters very much.

What I like least about these books is the redundant storylines where one character is a Christian and his / her love interest is not. I know Christians are not supposed to marry unbelievers, but the way these characters present is to internally love the non Christian while withholding that love because of the other’s unbelief. It presents a contradiction where they want the one they love to accept that God has unconditional love while making their own conditional. It is just uncomfortable to listen to. I appreciate the evangelical nature of the books, but feel uncomfortable in the way it is presented.

I appreciate that the books do not shy away from very difficult subjects. Unbelievers and the reason for their lack of faith are presented in sympathetic and respectful manners.

This story is about Jack who is a lot of fun, a very likable character. I liked the story about firefighters and arson. It isn’t something I have read about before.
