Publisher's summary

What would you do for a friend? What sacrifice would you make? This is the issue facing Gail Henderson when her best friend, Crystal Al Jabbar, asks her to be a surrogate for her and her husband, Rashid, using Gail's own eggs. Further complicating her decision is the loss of Gail’s husband and toddler son in a fatal car accident, two years earlier. After much contemplation, Gail reluctantly agrees. Her decision sets off a chain of events none of them could have anticipated.

A pleasant surprise!

I judged the book by it's whack cover and passed it for quite some time only to finally read it after enjoying Wynn's short story, "Trust Me Tonight". I caught onto the narrator's slight voice inflection before it went away to where she pulled me into this captivating story about three grieving lives coming together in an arrangement that went awry. I always appreciate the work of a single narrator who can change their voices for as many characters as they can and maintain it; therefore, 5 stars for Victoria Mei. I'll be checking out Wynn's other works on Audible as well. I'm not a shifter romance reader, but I trust that this author can change that for me at this point.

Loved The Question!

I read The Question years ago and fell in love with these characters, after having the narrator read the story to me I can't I'm having a hard time deciding which version I enjoyed the most. What I can tell you is that no matter which version you decide to choose, you will absolutely love this story. The narrator weaved a emotional tale of how far the bonds of friendship can be stretched before they snap, and in the aftermath can the new relationship that forms survive . I loved the characters and how they handled their struggles together as well as apart. This will definitely be one story that I will reading again and again. Kudos to the author for penning a wonderful love story and the narrator for helping the author's well written characters express their emotions in a way that made them come more alive.

An arrangement

Where do I begin…this was an interesting situation that should have been straight and to the point. However, things went wrong. So many ups & downs. Gail got on my nerves a little and I don’t think me and Crystal would have ever been friends again. The power of forgiveness is real.

Better in Audio after all these years.

A modern book that with this day and ages issues with fertility, isn't something that's too farfetched here in the USA. A romance lovers dream, a happily ever story that lets you feel a full range of emotions from Gail, a women who is relatable, and like able. No matter the choices we make, there are always regrets. Ms. Wynn takes you through a hard situation and is able to bring you out of the other side without too much heartache, but enough to make you tear up and want to keep reading to find out how it's all going to end.

I listened to this book in almost 1 sitting, and had to force myself to pause it after I got home even with having read the ebook more than 10 times. The story is just one that forces me to go through a full range of emotions, and I sometimes crave that with a book. If I'm almost crying just from listening to a story, it's written well. The only critique from me, a few of the sex scenes were cringey but only because it wasn't something I partially enjoyed. But, not the fault of the author, that's a me problem.

The narration on this book was done skillfully. The voice of Crystal could of been taken too far, and luckily she was perfectly annoying, but in a tone that wasn't grating.

More Than A Love Story

I read the ebook a few years ago. But as I listened to the audiobook I realized I missed many beautiful nuggets. Ms. Wynn is a master storyteller. The way she showed how people can allow their insecurities and wants to dictate decisions that may be detrimental to them and others was sublime. When I read The Question, I got a sense that Crystal was selfish, but the narrator was able to highlight it in such a way that helped me to understand the story better. I also loved the way she helped us readers relate to Gail's fears and understand her feelings and emotions when it came to Rashid.

Through narration, we see how the author was trying to show the reader that if you put two people in a situation that they didn't ask for, they may bond with each other, whether it's friendship or romance. It showed that we must be very careful and sure of the decisions we make in life, because those decisions not only affect you but also others. The narration shows you a man who was deeply committed to his wife and wanted to please her but was pushed to his breaking point, while still having hope for his marriage. We also got to see a friend who was caught in the middle of the wife shenanigans.

I felt for Gail and Rashid because here were two people doing everything that Crystal wanted; one being a faithful friend and the other being a faithful husband. Falling in love with your friend's husband is not an option. Readers, don't worry, this is not a story about an affair. It's a love story between two people who try to do everything by the book, to the point of denying that they love each other even when it's okay for them to be together. To me, it's one of those stories I call a life story. There are many lessons to learn in The Question. They are subtle messages that one may miss if they aren't really paying attention.

Enjoyed

Nice story, the narrator did a good job with the voices. Very well paced with the perfect amount of expected angst. Will read more from this author.

I've seen this book for years

I've seen this book for years and because I found it on Audible I thought I would try it. It did not disappoint. The character development was great how the friendships between characters evolved and the realistic responses by all parties effected. Good book I'll be reading this again
