Publisher's summary

Greetings! Welcome to the Language Magic™ dual-language learning series. After you’ve learned the basics from the classroom or one of the many excellent language learning programs out there, it's time to get fluent!

The Raven, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Tell-Tale Heart are some of Poe’s most famous works. These dual-language versions of The Cask of Amontillado and The Tell-Tale Heart from Language Magic™ are original translations optimized to aid language learners on the fast-track to fluency.

The version of The Raven was translated by Carl Theodore Eben in 1869, and while beautiful, language learners may find it more difficult. Eben took poetic license to make the rhyme and meter align with the English. Hence, with this work, Eben’s German translation of the English carries the overall meaning and spirit of the passage, but it doesn’t track the English as closely as it does in our other dual-language offerings.

It’s true that gaining fluency with a language is a big hill to climb. But it’s also true that there are different ways to climb that hill. The fastest way is total immersion. Live in country. But most of us can’t do that.

What’s the next best approach? Stories. Audiobooks. But that’s a struggle if you don’t know what is being said.

With our dual-language audiobooks, Language Magic™ bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be. The story alternates continuously between your native language and the language you’re learning.

Get fluent the fun and easy way!

Discover that you can relax and enjoy the story while absorbing the language as you listen, and you can listen to it over and over until you find you can understand it completely in the language you are learning.

If you are learning English, we recommend you use the version of the story that leads with your native language, so you hear each sentence in your native language, followed by the language you are learning.

All foreign language translators, editors, and narrators are native speakers. Great care was taken with the translation to ensure fidelity to Standard High German or Hochdeutsch.

For children and adults of all ages who are learning German.

Learning advance and natural language

As an middle-advance German student is really useful to start exploring the limits. I mean, start going out of "books for learners" and begin to hear more complex dialogue. This book from Edgar Alan Poe does it. You hear here a more real translation keeping the essence of the meaning while using the most appropriate German translation.
