Loved the vibe and feel of this book

This was a good book made better by excellent narration.

What I liked: The author definitely knows how to create a believably creepy mood. The setup for each story was really well done.

The overall arc of the story is interesting and engaging. I really like the way Purrazzi introduced the mystery

The narration is awesome. His voice is a good fit for horror and his acting felt natural and believable.

What I didn't like: In some of the stories, after the mystery builds and the suspense climbs, there isn't much tension when finding a solution. sometimes it's as simple as the characters just walking away from the problem that a moment ago seemed like a matter of life and death.

Great book.

Wonderful storyline with characters you can relate too. I paranormal investigation shows and pick them apart. This book really turns the tables. It gave me some late night chills, something I thought I was desensitized too. Looking forward to more. Narrator was great with a good range of identifiable characters.

Gripping and thrillingly creepy

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review; And, here it is; T. Bill James did a phenomenal job of bringing this one to life and I loved evevery midute of it. I think the most memorable moment was one of the final scenes. Not giving anything away but, I have to tell you, when you start this one, you better hold on. It’s gonna be a wild fun ride start to finish. It deserves a 5 star rating and then some. Happy reading, you won’t regret it.

Good (Almost Great) Ghost Story with Excellent Nar

Raventree Society: Season One by JE Purrazzi is an interesting, loosely connected series of ghost stories. The writer does an excellent job bringing the classic ghost tale into the modern world. Each individual horror story in the book is a quality stand alone story. In fact, I wish it had been a collection of spooky ghost stories instead of trying to make it a complete novel. Purrazzi is at her best when setting up the encounter, building suspense as the conclusion draws near and keeping true to the horror style. What didn’t work were the characters. Other than the protagonist, the other characters were so flat and one dimensional that I had a difficult time telling them apart, which was fine because they are largely interchangeable and unimportant. The suspense was not all it could have been because I didn’t care if the supporting cast lived or died anyway. I think that there are excellent stories to be told by Purrazzi, I hope with more experience and a better editor that the can come out.

Separately, this review would be incomplete without discussion of the narrator. As there are no other works listed by T. Bill James, I assume this is his first audiobook narration, and what a spectacular job he did with the reading. James brings emotion into the story, relaying the intensity or suspense of the action scenes with his pacing and voice. Each of the characters have a unique, identifiable voice to make it easy for the listener to determine who is talking in dialogue. James’ narration masterfully blends enhancing the story via voice acting without distracting from the work. I hope to hear more from James going forward.
