About this listen

She longs for the perfect life...but can she find it in death?

High school history teacher April Carter never asked to be an angel. When she dies at the young age of 30, she should go to heaven like a normal person. Instead, she wakes up in the afterlife as an angel-in-training with Damian as her mentor. She had enough of the insufferable man in life.

Now...she might as well be in hell.

Damian plans to help April cross over and be done with her. Being assigned as her trainer is the last thing he needs. She's stubborn and strong-willed, and she's ignited a fire in his soul he didn't think could ever burn again.

But April might not be cut out to be an angel.

Can Damian teach her the ways of the guardians?

Or will her stubbornness be the end of them both?

If you like steamy romance with tortured heroes, you'll love this enemies-to-lovers paranormal romance.

Critic reviews

"I think this is the very first time I've read a book with angels in it that didn't involve battles with demons. It was actually refreshing to see the conflict arise that had nothing to do with 'evil' as much as the struggles with the basic human condition." (Up 'Til Dawn Book Blog)

Sweet Guardian Angel Romance

I really enjoyed the premise for The Rest of Forever. I liked Pulkinen's take on the guardian angel angle; it felt unique, and the romance is really sweet. The narrator did a good job with the audio, and I'd recommend listening if you have the chance. It's a male narrator, and he had a nice tone to his voice. I liked the connection between April and Damian, and I enjoyed the little bit of forbidden love aspect to the story. Damian has been April's guardian angel for almost 30 years. He feels deeply for her, but a bad experience from his past is messing with his present and his future. Damian's issues cause some problems for April and Him. He tries to push her away, and it ends up affecting his job of protecting April. April is a teacher, who wants the perfect life, but unfortunately, her current boyfriend leaves a lot to be desired. She's in for a surprise when she learns about her guardian angel, and takes a closer look at her life. I had a hard time liking April. She's so blinded by her idea of the "perfect" life, she misses all the bad in her life. Her boyfriend Jared is horrible, but she's so desperate to not be alone, she doesn't see it clearly. They've only been together for a year, and she knows deep down that something isn't right, but she keeps wallowing about getting married. She talks about Damian being mean to her, but all I read was her being rude to him. Damian pretty much helps her all the time, and she's so blind to all he does for her. She's a brat a lot of the time, and it did become frustrating at times. In the end, she wasn't my favorite, but I liked the rest of the story. I liked the slow burn between April and Damian, and they do have some steamy times. I'd read more by Carrie Pulkinen. Entertaining, fun read!

Great Forever After

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This was a very different concept for the Forever After. The author has a great imagination. April's transition and Damien's tutoring makes a great love story. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters and their personalities.

Heroine is April . Love how this is a PNR that deals with Angels .
April is expecting to get a ring from her boyfriend. She doesn’t get it but she gets a suprise.
Damion is April guardian Angel , he has watched April from her first breath . Damion is waiting for her thirtieth birthday, that way all his obligations he has towards April be be done. He’s wondering if there is a way that Angels and Humans can get together

Curt as a narrator was great . THe voic is strong, clear and smooth

Funny, Romantic And Sensual

This book started off on a pretty somber note considering how April's life is pretty mundane to say the least. I found comedic relief for me in this book was more like a movie since I listened to it as opposed to reading it through audiobook. The narrator not only bought the story to life in my imagination but so did the author for me. This story is unique. It's funny. It's true to life (or death) depending on how you see it. I think it bought on more than a romance element but the innocence that love is especially for characters like the ones we've been introduced to here. WAIT, that's not the only appealing factor in this story. What reared this story in for me was that she's an angel in training under Damian. The fun part was the fantasy, mythical and love story all over the book. EVERYthing about this was loving, sweet, intriguing and exciting to follow.

ROMANTIC, FUNNY, SEXY, GUARDIAN ANGELS

THE REST OF FOREVER is a stand-alone paranormal romance.

I want a guardian angel just like Damian. I mean every bit like him.

I loved that this was a different angel falling in love story. I don’t want to give anything away by saying how it was different.

I loved the intensity. I loved Damian trying to avoid his feelings until avoiding hurt more than accepting. I loved that everything wasn’t too easy, or too hard. I loved that April was a Texas spit-fire. I got the distinct feeling that her motto is “rules are just suggestions.” She certainly makes her own decisions!

Damian and April’s relationship is a slow to build, undeniable, affection that must have been preordained.

THE REST OF FOREVER is sexy, romantic, funny, and thought provoking. I absolutely loved it.

This was my first book from this author and I hope she will include me in future tours and releases!

Narration: Curt Bonnem’s voice reminds me of Rock Engle’s. He has a voice that is a soothing balm after a hectic day at work. Thank you for making my commute so much better this past week.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Baggage and Blessings

This is my 2nd audiobook and I'm still adjusting to not heating my own take on the characters. BUT this was almost perfect! I've never read a book on Guardian Angels before, but I love their stories and struggles.

Carrie, as always, has out done herself! I'm excited to see where this plot is heading.

A great listen

This is my first audio by this author and narrator and I thought it was a great one. I loved the angels and humans mix of it and it was entertaining and it kept me interested because I havent read a story about guardians before. The two main characters were great MC's. They had alot going on and ALOT of baggage but I love the enemies to lovers aspect and I couldn't put this one down. I am looking forward to reading/listening to more by this author and the same for the narrator too!
Happy Listening!

April and Damian

April Carter is a history teacher at the very same high school she graduated from, she loves her job and has only one unfulfilled desire, to be married and have children of her own. After spending a year with her live-in boyfriend Jared she's convinced herself that he is about to propose. Unfortunately, for her Jared has no intention of popping the question, he is, in fact, two-timing her and has been for some time. For some months now she has had very explicit dreams about a teacher at her school, Damian Perkins. She's convinced she loves Jared so why is she dreaming about a Damian who she is convinced hates her.

Damian has been April's Guardian Angel all her life but this will end in three weeks, because when she reaches her thirtieth birthday she too will become a Guardian Angel, and it's part of his job to prepare her for this transition. Damian's closed his heart to the possibility of ever falling in love or having someone fall in love with him because of something in his past. He's convinced himself that his only feelings for April are about protecting and prepare her for when she crosses over. He has done everything he can to keep distance between them thus he's totally ignored the need to prepare her.

April tries to talk down a would-be shooter at the school and ends up dead, causing her to Slumber until her thirtieth birthday. Damian has tried and failed not to care about her, she's worked her way into his heart but fearing being hurt again he refuses to acknowledge his feelings. When April awakens in the Angelic Realm and is told that she is now going to be a Guardian and that Damian will be her trainer, she refuses to accept her fate. She wants to go back to Earth and live her life something she can't do because everyone has accepted that she is dead. But there is an option open to her she can Fall and return to earth and live out the rest of her life, without a Guardian.

April opts to visit earth, staying in the in-between where nobody will know she's there. She learns that Jared had been cheating on her, that he never really loved her at all. She is determined to teach him a lesson but that's against the rules.

There is more I could tell you about this book but that would involve more spoilers and I don't want to do that. What I will say is that I enjoyed this story about a Guardian who refuses to allow himself to love, or allow anyone to love him and a woman who so wanted marriage and children that she couldn't see what was happening right under her nose.

The narration of this book was really well done by Curt Bonnem who managed to invoke just the right tone for everyone involved.

I was given a copy of this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
