Publisher's summary

Across the Vedic subcontinent Princess Damayanti embarks on a heart-pounding quest to discover and win the heart of her beloved Prince Nala. First she must risk her life to pass seemingly impossible tests set up by her gurus Great Swan, Goddess Shakti, Lords Shiva, Indra, and other immortals. Meanwhile, Kala - the tormented god of time - is smitten by Damayanti's beauty and hatches up a plan to destroy Nala by using three diabolical gold dice in a deadly game of chance.

This 21st Century retelling of an ancient tantric love story reveals the roots of yoga and how past pitfalls must be redeemed to learn the secret of enduring love.

Great story, lesser telling

Would you listen to The Secret of Enduring Love again? Why?

Not in this narration. I found the narrator to be very lyrical in the style. Speaking as if reciting a poem and 18 hours of that seemed long. It took time to get used to it and then some details were missed since the narration was quite monotone. High pitching of the voice while quoting some characters was at times disturbing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kala the God of time. He had magic, horror and amazing surprising transformation in his story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Very long with more metaphors than actions.

Any additional comments?

Good story! A bit long to develop and to captivate. Great knowledge about energy centers and yoga. Touching.

This book is written in modern lingo. It brings ancient mythology to life and teaches about the 7 gateways to love. Its a nice thing to think about and remember.

Love this book 💕

I really enjoy the themes in this book, and have listed to repeatedly over the years. I am relatively unfamiliar with hindu mythology except through readings of Joseph Campbell and Carl Jung, so these characters are surprising as well as entertaining. I find this story of the feminine hero's journey to be an intriguing allegory of personal spiritual awakening. Will likely appeal to the mystically inclined.

Great twist on a ancient tale

Took me awhile to get into the story, but was really worth the listen. I recommend any yogi to listen to this to gain a better understanding as to why we need yoga.
