Publisher's summary

The oceans of Tantalus are teaming with Aquarians, the dangerous, predatory mammals that feed off anything that lands in their territory. What is strange is that they are avoiding part of the ocean closest to the shoreline where Trysuil is planning to build the city of learning. His question is, why this area? What is keeping them at bay?

He is determined to find out, and to do this, he needs the help of their new allies. As water is no place for a winged man, Kyllan turns to his friends, the Sirens. They will soon get to the bottom of this, but it will come at a cost to the Tantalarians.

The Sirens take one look at all the water on Tantalus and know immediately this is where they want to live. The home they knew on Mars had never called to them in the same way, and they know it is time to move on.

Fascinating Story

I have to say that I came upon this audiobook without listening/reading the previous books in the series. This would have been beneficial as it took a few chapters to figure out what must have occurred in previous books. I will be rectifying that problem very soon.

The characters were fascinating. I haven't seen many books that had Phoenix as main characters...or any for that matter. That, in itself, makes this series unique.

The performance by the Narrator was great. Easy to differentiate between characters. All in all a pretty good book all around. I can't wait to hear the previous books.

Amazing and Action Packed

This author has a wonderful imagination at creating a complex story. This book is a short book but it packs a punch. The story is developed well and keeps you biting your nails wondering what will happen next.
I definitely recommend this book and all the books in this series.
I very much enjoyed the narrator of this amazing story. Brian does a superb job at distinguishing between the characters.
I freaking love this series and can’t wait for the next book!
I would’ve rated it five across the board but I gave it a four overall because it was a shorter book.

Cute but wasn't what I was expecting

This is the second one of this series I have listened to, with the book before I was expecting a little more. I did enjoy the other book more. This one was hard to work out what was going on since I had not read the other ones. It was a good listen but at times a little confusing. Has a nice plot, nice characters but it wasn’t one I could get into like I did from book 4.5

The narrator did a wonderful job with lovely character voices, you always knew who was talking and what they were feeling. He male voices are just as nice as his female. There was no background noise, no repeating of words, a very clear audio that he gave true emotion to, if breaks were taken I could not tell. You could really feel what they were going through, and how they dealt with it, the pain, happiness and sorrow each went through. I thought the narrator was great.

Fantastic

I was completely enthralled by this entry into the series. The author did a great job of introducing us to his world and the narrator did a great job of bringing it to life. Very much looking forward to the rest of the series. I was given a free copy of this audio in return for an unbiased review.

great add to the series

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I thought this was a great novella for the series. The author does a great job of balancing action and romance in these books. That is something I really appreciate. As this is a novella, it is pretty short. More of a side story to the greater story arc. The narrator continues to do well with the audio. If you are a fan of the Tantalus series and want a quick listen, I would highly recommend this book. If you are interested and want a taste, I would recommend it, but warn you the background you get from the series makes these books far more enjoyable.

Really Good Novella

This is my first book from the Tantalus series and it was pretty good. It didn’t seem too hard to catch up on events from the past books and it was easy to jump right in. I do want to go back and start from the beginning to learn more about the characters and overall plot when I have spare time. Abraham did a great job creating this world and the characters within it. I was hooked until the every end!
Brian created a wonderful performance! I loved the energy emotion that he used in this narration. He did different voices for each character and the transition between each was done well.

Good in between book.

This is the seventh book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would gladly listen to another. The books in this series are all uncomplicated, at times predictable and at others a new twist gets tossed in, and some things happen too conveniently, yet I love them all. This one is no exception. There is a higher moral that is obvious in all the books, but it’s not done in a preachy way.
In this book we learn of some devious plans of some of the humans. This comes at a somewhat convenient, somewhat disruptive time as the Tantalarians are trying to move the remaining Sirens from Mars.
There is a conclusion to a degree, but this book obviously sets the stage for the last. There is someone contacting them from earth.

This is the tenth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Brian Callanan ) and I would listen to another for sure. I enjoy the tone of his voice. He uses different voices for all the characters and imparts some personality to each by varying their pacing and inflection.

There are some mild sex scenes in the beginning, there is no excessive violence or swearing (that I recall).
