If you like vivid flights of fancy, Edgar Rice Burroughs is your man. The famed author of the Tarzan series paints with a broad brush on a large canvas. Here we find Lord Greystoke, formerly Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle, abiding in London with a wife and an unruly teenaged son, Jack. Like his father, Jack has an incurable attraction to the wild, and we find him fleeing civilization to hone his skills deep in the African jungle. The story is rife with savage adventure in which the law of the jungle is played out by tribes of apes, trappers, poachers, and kidnappers. This is a coming-of-age story rippling with action and romance. Shelly Frasier does a creditable job, but some production problems - volume shifts and popping "p's" - mar the listen.

This book was written and narrated very well! I enjoyed listening to it. I was hesitant when i first started to listen and found out it was narrated by a woman (just thought it was in need of a male narrater is all). It is real similar to the first book of the series.

As it was in my adolescence. Pulp for sure, but fires the imagination, a nostalgic sense of adventure and "good guys win" message that never gets old.

If you have been reading the Tarzan books this far, then I think it doesn't have to be said how wonderful and classic this series is. I loved the new cast that follows Jack Greystoke through this adventurous tale. The honorable Morrison Banes and Mareon really make this story. I enjoyed watching them grow and have many character development moments throughout. It is a great continuation of the series and I highly recommend it.

Although Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote so many great Stories of Tarzan, I don’t think there is anyone out there that didn’t consider the Son of Tarzan as a favorite amongst favorites
