Story
My life was going just fine by most standards. I ran a successful business in a tight-knit magical community, and lived just blocks from a beautiful lake and series of hiking trails. Then Selene showed up. According to some magical code I inherit my aunt's ancient familiar; a grumpy ten-pound cat with a broken filter. She fancies herself something of a saber-toothed tiger, and claims to have wrestled the thread of her ninth life from the hands of the Fates themselves—although, I'm pretty sure that last part isn't true. Almost positive.

Story
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Story
Obituary writer Nadine Barbault doesn’t mind being called “Lady Death”. It suits the ice queen persona she’s cultivated to survive the fast-paced Toronto Herald. So when Nadine learns that famous (and reclusive) author Dot Voline has died, she doesn’t hesitate to run the obituary…only to discover that Dot is very much alive. Nadine’s screw-up has brought Wesley Chen of the rival Spear no end of joy—she’s been a thorn in his extremely ambitious side for years. But the renewed interest in Dot also surfaced chatter about a mysterious past scandal.

Fans of the Sookie Books Will Enjoy
A nice recap of all(?) the books. A short story. Fan questions with the author and Alan Ball. Those parts of this book are enjoyable. You don’t need to hear this to have closure on the series.

Going Down
I have been a fan since book one. Lately it's been getting dark in Sookie's world. I wounder if "True Blood" has something to do with this? A little stalling here? I miss Quinn. What do you think? Good part in this book is the Quinn part. I did wounder about him. He remembered her birthday in latest book. Trouble everywhere. Oh My.

Great
Would you consider the audio edition of The Sookie Stackhouse Companion to be better than the print version?
Yes, I own both and although I started with the print version it is so nice to hear everything through narration.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Well since this is the companion I enjoyed the question and answer section with Charlaine.
Which scene was your favorite?
Question and answer section when they read the question I submitted :-)
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
no, its a companion. However I think Charlaine did an excellent job creating this companion.
Any additional comments?
My only issue with this is the narrators for Pam and Eric. They did not try to emulate the appropriate accents, instead they did southern twang accents... that was a little irritating.

Difficult to rate...
Most of this book flip flops between storytelling and interviews and timelines.
The timeline section is very very dry.
But it is also very helpful. Would have liked to have seen a little bit more Storytelling in the book.

Waste of time and money
There is a new novella in this collection, so that was enjoyable. But the rest of this book is just summaries of the Sookie Stackhouse books and short stories. Who wants to read or listen to that?

It Is What It Is.
This book is a companion to the series. It is not meant to be a novel in and of itself. The negative reviews I have been seeing are actually pretty laughable, because they are complaining about the fact that they wasted a credit on something like this. Only die-hard Sookieverse people should use a credit on a COMPANION book. That said, it was pretty well-presented for the type of book that it is, and the inclusion of the novella was a nice touch. I had been looking for that slice in the storyline of Sookie and Sam. I will miss the series when it is over, and will have to get my fix of Bon Temps from True Blood.
