About this listen

From Stephen R. Covey's eldest son comes a revolutionary new path towards productivity and satisfaction. Trust, says Stephen M.R. Covey, is the very basis of the new global economy, and he shows how trust - and the speed at which it is established with clients, employees and constituents - is the essential ingredient for any high - performance, successful organization.

For business leaders and public figures in any arena, The Speed of Trust offers an unprecedented and eminently practical look at exactly how trust functions in our every transaction and relationship - from the most personal to the broadest, most indirect interaction - and how to establish trust immediately so that you and your organization can forego the time - killing, bureaucratic check - and - balance processes so often deployed in lieu of actual trust.

the speed of trust

this book gives real life examples of the importance of the trust. As trust increases, spped increases and costs go down. When trust is low, speed is low and costs go up!

Trust truly changes everything!

What did you love best about The Speed of Trust?

It's not preachy. It's written in a manner that is easy for any listener to relate. Trust really changes everything.

What other book might you compare The Speed of Trust to and why?

N/A

What about Stephen R. Covey’s performance did you like?

I love that he has a great deal of real world experiences. I like when he shares his faults. He doesn't write the book as if he's perfect. He explained his errors and how he learned from them.

What did you learn from The Speed of Trust that you would use in your daily life?

It has enabled me to understand the many aspects of trust. For instance, in the past I didn't understand why some relationships lacked trust. Now among many aspects I understand that motive is a key element. Also, I understand that if I trust someone I am more likely to give their actions the benefit of the doubt instead of jumping to negative conclusions.

The book has changed my outlook on life. Many of the principles discussed really struck home. I plan to refer to this book again and again as it's just so true and relevant.

His references to the quotes from many other notables.

Trust is everything.

Any additional comments?

It was a difficult listen at times because there is just so much to absorb and also because of the of the readers oratory skill. I'm going to have to re-listen to it several times to retain the key points.

Not all new ideas but plenty of takeaways

There is a number of stories told that seem to frequent other books circulating but the idea behind measured results of Trust as a whole was a great concept. Plenty of great worthwhile takeaways. Enjoyed it.

A Little Long, But a Good Read

I think this is an even more important book than the 7 Habits book written by Covey''s father, which is a required read and re-read in it's own right. It encapsulates the elements that make up a trusted entity (a person, a family, a company, a society), and the behaviors which, when implemented earnestly, will strengthen those elements and improve how they are perceived.

While the concepts are easy to grasp, Mr. Covey reads a little fast,. I would have slowed it down, but it goes on and on for some 65+ chapters. It took me a month to get through this book listening to it in the car on my 20 minutes (each way) commute plus a 4-hour plane ride! Just remember the basic framework: 4 elements, 13 behaviors, 5 waves.

This might be my new favorite book

Everyone should read this book. The second half in particular, takes a more intrinsic approach to trust and how to build and earn it, and the value of trusting others. I’ll continue to recommend this book, and all Franklin Covey products, to all my friends and family.

A remarkable work.

Stephen M. R. Covey had presented a bro excellent work with this book. I recognized many places where I should have extended more or less trust but have learned how to avoid making many of those same trust mistakes - in both directions.
This should be read by every business person alive.
