About this listen
May 1915. After tragedy strikes during the Second Battle of Artois, Frenchman Julian Olivier will do anything to get out of the trenches. So when British Intelligence recruits him to spy behind enemy lines, he jumps at the opportunity. Just before he begins, however, he has a chance encounter with a young French woman who leaves his heart marked for the remainder of the war - even if he doesn’t know her name.
Warren Flynn is a Canadian airborne hero, and dogfights with the Germans are all in a day’s work. Second only to his love of flying is his fascination with Claire Donovan, the daughter of an American munitions manufacturer living in Paris. Warren flies Julian into Germany and soon receives orders to post the Allies’ newest operative - an attractive peasant woman named Evette - in Claire’s home.
As a dangerous ring of spies and saboteurs threatens to turn the war against the Allies, Julian discovers goodness in his enemies’ hearts. But even if he survives, will he ever be reunited with the woman whose memory he can’t erase? Will Warren survive the war, and will Evette unearth the infiltrator in her own territory before it’s too late?

Story
Struggling alone on the family farm, Abigail Tidwell knows exactly who to blame for her hardships: the Americans. If it weren't for their part in the war, her father and brothers would be home rather than fighting abroad. But no amount of antipathy could have prepared her for the shocking sight of a wounded American soldier on her property, a man in dire need of her help. Grudgingly, Abigail tends to the soldier's injuries and anticipates the satisfaction of turning him over to the authorities once he is healed. But fate has other plans.

A wonderfully conceived and well written novel
I assumed this was some kind of WWI fighter pilot novel.
What it turned out to be was much better. It is a well thought out WWI spy thriller. The plot twists are unexpected and keep the reader speculating through out the book.
I’m so happy I stumbled into this book.

Great story, especially great narration!
This book was recommended to me by a teenage grandchild. I thought the storyline and word choices were excellent and the content was clean enough to recommend this book to other teens in our family. The narration was excellent, capturing the accents of the different languages of the characters. Good job!

Narrator needs a new microphone
Listening to the narrator constantly inhaling is very annoying. This is the only narrator I have ever heard doing this.
