About this listen

It's Christmas Eve in Santa Fe, but among the revelers on Canyon Road, a decidedly unholy scene is taking place. A desperate man, dressed all in black, feverishly seeks refuge for himself and the squirming bundle he holds tightly against his chest. Agent Paul Kagan's bundle is a baby who has the power to change the course of global events. His pursuers are his former colleagues -- members of the Russian mafia who will stop at nothing to accomplish their mission. Now Kagan is a spy on the run. He must ensure this baby's survival, even if it will cost him his own life.

Just a short distance away, Kagan will find an unexpected pair of allies -- a mother and her young son, who huddle together after a horrible episode of domestic violence leaves them home alone, with no means of transportation. And so, with the exquisitely honed skills of his profession and the help and good faith of a weary woman and a disillusioned boy, Kagan must take on forces that will stop at nothing. In the course of a wild and violent night, the unlikely trio learns lessons of generosity, courage, and selflessness, discovering within themselves the luminous strength of the true Christmas spirit.

Believable fun fiction

after a recent kick in action / suspense military books this one surprised me by being very good detail and seasonal impact.

it's just enough light hardness and enough suspense to keep any military member or their family enjoying a good book.

Took a chance

Wasn’t sure if my wife and I would enjoy this, and not being a far stretch for our typical genre we were very pleasantly surprised and impressed with the entire book. Great read!

Loved this story

I wanted a different kind of Christmas story and David Morrell delivered. I loved that a James Bond type of story was blended with Christmas stories we are all familiar with. I also liked the spy spin he gave to the Christmas story itself. Very entertaining story. I think this one is a keeper.

Poor Bible Knowledge

I usually really enjoy Davids books and this one is a good one. However I was a little turned off by his writing a Chrismas novel and then including a made up "spy's version" of the Christmas story. What he describes and "fact" in the story could be very misleading to new believers. Other than that, the story was a good one and I would like to see the main characters in a follow up book.

A favorite Christmas story

Excellent characters and plot. Great story within a story. And the usual suspense, spy craft, and action you’d expect from David Morrell. Top notch!

Nice low level spy intrigue for Christmas

Christmas stories are not supposed to be violent and bloody, but should have a ”happily ever after “ feel. This is a good Christmas story, with a bit of intrigue and the good guy wins so all have a wonderful Christmas! Even 1 of the bad guys!
