Publisher's summary

A lush and vivid story steeped in Indian folklore and mythology, Roshani Chokshi's The Star-touched Queen is a novel that no listener will soon forget. An instant New York Times best seller!

Fate and fortune. Power and passion. What does it take to be the queen of a kingdom when you're only 17?

Maya is cursed. With a horoscope that promises a marriage of Death and Destruction, she has earned only the scorn and fear of her father's kingdom. Content to follow more scholarly pursuits, her whole world is torn apart when her father, the Raja, arranges a wedding of political convenience to quell outside rebellions. Soon Maya becomes the queen of Akaran and wife of Amar. Neither roles are what she expected: As Akaran's queen, she finds her voice and power. As Amar's wife, she finds something else entirely: Compassion. Protection. Desire....

But Akaran has its own secrets - thousands of locked doors, gardens of glass, and a tree that bears memories instead of fruit. Soon, Maya suspects her life is in danger. Yet who, besides her husband, can she trust? With the fate of the human and Otherworldly realms hanging in the balance, Maya must unravel an ancient mystery that spans reincarnated lives to save those she loves the most...including herself.

An Unexpected Treat and a heck of a story.

Where does The Star-Touched Queen rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an audiobook I will listen to again and again. This is one of my top 10 favorites I've ever listened to.

What did you like best about this story?

The interweaving of fairytales and mythological stories with a new story. The plot is interesting and unexpected.

What does Priya Ayyar bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The names of characters can be hard to figure out in your head. Having a seasoned narrator take on the names was helpful.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Expect to get lost and never want to return.

Beautiful Retelling!

This book was amazing! This is one on of my top favorites books now! Loved the story and the writing was wonderful. This audio book was a joy to listen to and flew this narration in a matter of 2 short days. For anyone who liked The Wrath and the Dawn you will absolutely love this book.

I'm a fan but not a star touched one

I really liked this story and wanted to love it but there were some parts in the beginning that took a while to get into. Once the second part started I was hooked. Kamala , the demon horse was fantastic and I think has more than earner her place among my top sidekicks. The story wrapped up very nicely and I wasn't left with any questions, extra hopes or even expectations.

Maybe if I had read a physical copy I would've felt more connected to the main protagonist but still, the star touched queen was an enjoyable read.

A Tale for the Bards

If you’ve ever heard an Irish myth spoken instead of read, you’ll know what I mean. The rhythm like a heart beat, the prose is poetry, and gods become real for a moment. And so it is with The Star-Touched Queen. The world is vivid and so are it’s people.
Well written, Ms. Chokshi!
Well sung, Ms. Ayyar!

Enjoyable, Relaxing

I think this story had a strong start. Hinted at great powers, subtle forces moving beyond the control of the main character!

But the main story was a little flatter. Mind you, it was still a pretty enjoyable listen. It wasn't very demanding of the listener. And it's great to have a fantasy YA novel that takes place somewhere other than fake-Europe.

I recommend listening to it. But I probably won't listen to it twice
