Publisher's summary

Discover a new series of whodunits by million-selling author Faith Martin. These charming mysteries will have you scratching your head to work out who the murderer is.

Meet Jenny Starling: travelling cook and reluctant amateur detective.

Please note this book was first published as Just Not Cricket under Faith Martin’s pen name Joyce Cato.

Jenny Starling is doing the catering for the village cricket match. But she’s not expecting one of the players to turn up dead.

Everyone from the village has turned out to watch the match, and with this being the club’s centenary, Jenny Starling has been hired specially to provide her stunning food for the event.

Then the next man up to bat, Tristan Jones, is nowhere to be found. He is discovered behind the pavilion, murdered by a blow to the back of the head with an old cricket bat.

The handsome 20-something had a reputation as a Lothario, with an appetite for married women. Did a scorned woman or a cuckolded husband kill him?

However, he’d annoyed other people too. He was a stockbroker who took big risks with other people’s money and lost their life savings.

Soon another body turns up and Jenny Starling is going to need all her cunning to crack this complex case.

This is the sixth in a series of enjoyable murder mysteries with a great cast of characters and baffling crimes which will keep you in suspense to the very end.

Perfect for fans of classic whodunits by authors like Agatha Christie, LJ Ross, TE Kinsey, and J.R. Ellis.

The Teatime Mystery

I have been reading/listening to this mystery series and as normal thoroughly enjoyed this murder mystery and the way Jenny Starling helped to solve it, along with the delightful Inspector. The characters become so alive and I enjoy them so much. Looking forward to reading my next one. The narration is excellent.

she's done it again

Jenny is wonderful. She can cook like an angel and is smarter than anyone. I loveed the stories. They are always very involved with all kinds of twists and turns. This is the first time I've listened to it on audible. The narration by Charlotte Worthing was perfect. It sounded just like what I thought Jenny would sound. Great book.

Another hit

Catchy, funny, twisty and solid. Jenny does it again. The police seem like simpletons up against the traveling cook.

Disappointing

Besides the story being a stretch - the police officers are portrayed as bullies and arrogant.

Martians?

The only less realistic ending would have been Martians. The Author was reaching…it is as if the author wrote without an ending in mind but had to find a murderer and ad libbed, unsuccessfully.

Weak and Unbelievable

While having a few interesting characters, the end of this book is totally preposterous! Washing a haute couture outfit in a river to get rid of bloodstains and then returning to the gathering wearing it without ever being missed???? Done with this series.

Not a fan of this author, the voice artist is adequate

Faith Martin Books appear to be written with an extensive thesaurus
and a long list of common clichés. Each is used liberally and unskilfully.
The resulting mixes appeal as much as chocolate covered oysters.

The Teatime Mystery

I'm really enjoying this book series. Not really listening in order but still enjoyable. I like the variety of themes in the book series.
