About this listen
The third thousand years were 10 turbulent centuries filled with pathos and drama, from Abraham to David. This era includes the full panorama of the amazing life of Moses, and the flood of miracles that exceeded any other epic until the ministry of Jesus Christ; the story of Joshua, the great Ephraimite general who conquered Palestine, and the lives of Gideon, Deborah, Samson, Ruth, Eli, Samuel, and the tragic biography of the famous King Saul. All of these belong to the provocative and dramatic unfolding of events during the exiting third thousand years.
This is the second of three volumes on the Old Testament. This series was used by the author, W. Cleon Skousen, as a college text at Brigham Young University. Hundreds of thousands have sold, bringing to life the fascinating personalities of real people who lived in ancient times.

Story
Who is Allah? What does he ask of those who submit to his teachings? Pulitzer Prize-winner Jack Miles gives us a deeply probing, revelatory portrait of the world’s second largest, fastest-growing, and perhaps most tragically misunderstood religion. In doing so, Miles illuminates what is unique about Allah, his teachings, and his resolutely merciful temperament, and he thereby reveals that which is false, distorted, or simply absent from the popular conception of the heart of Islam.

Good Book is what happens when a regular guy actually reads the book on which his religion, his culture, and his world are based. Along the way, he grapples with the most profound theological questions: Does God prefer obedience or good deeds? And the most unexpected ones: Why are so many women in the Bible prostitutes? Why does God love bald men so much? Is Samson really that stupid? Good Book is an irreverent, enthralling journey through the world's most important work of literature.

Are we living in the end-times? Is it possible the players depicted in the book of Revelation could be out in force today? And if they are, would you know how to recognize them? In Agents of the Apocalypse, noted prophecy expert Dr. David Jeremiah does what no prophecy expert has done before. He explores the book of Revelation through the lens of its major players—the exiled, the martyrs, the elders, the victor, the king, the judge, the 144,000, the witnesses, the false prophet, and the beast.

Story
There is no period when the distant roar of history can be heard pounding on the pages of the past with greater fury than during the 10 savage centuries known as "the fourth thousand years". This was the age of the first-world empires, the days when Assyria, Babylon, Greece, and Rome each displayed their passion for power. It was an age which demanded the resounding and inspired voices of many of God’s greatest spokesmen. The turbulent chaos of these centuries brought forth many mighty prophets of God—Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Jonah, Lehi, and many others.

The Kolob Theorem written by Professor Lynn M. Hilton allows us to see more clearly the celestial home we lived in before we were born and the home we will live in after we die. These places appear more real; they are made of matter, some of very fine and pure matter, and exist in time and space. Lynn, as a man of faith, unites in a single theory, scientific evidence and sources from the standard works of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to account for the form and structure of all of God’s worlds, planets, and suns.

Caused Extreme Insomnia
I really could not stop listening to these intriguing Old Testament true stories, especially as written by Cleon Skousen's unique writing style, and Adam Skousen's easy-listening narration. I tried to turn off the narration at each chapter, but ended up listening "to just ONE more Bible episode" . 4 AM found me continuing that pattern! I really didn't want to stop listening.
Embedded in each scripture telling, are facts from history, explanations of culture in those times and in the different places, and different groups of people. Also an understanding of the locations and how each scene relates to the circumstances being explained. A few word translations are introduced -- one example being that the word "harlot" can also mean "innkeeper". That puts a little different light on the incidence of Rahab, the innkeeper, saving Joshua and Caleb before the fall of Jericho.
Each Biblical story just comes alive in this book, but of course that would not matter if the narration faltered. Adam Skousen's awesome talent in reading is proven by the fact that I found myself forgetting that someone was narrating -- I became so involved in the content and the plot.
I loved this book and highly recommend it. Whether you are into scripture stories or not, I bet you'll find yourself staying up through the night listening, as I did.

New Narrated version of this book- Great choice
I have learned to love hearing the words of the first prophets on earth. Learning God’s gospel is the same today as in days of old. Now I listen to this audible and hear these stories. I hope others look up this audible and hear how great it is. I felt these stories come alive. I learned things I haven’t heard, or failed to understand before. This is an insightful supplement to all Bible studies.

This is the second book of a series, considered a classic in the LDS church. An entertaining writing style. the books are old, and contain opinions no longer supported by the church.
