X-Men meets Fantasy!
Where to start? Blackjack rules! No, not the game but the man himself. His POV chapters were my favorite and I'm very glad that I'll get to see more of him come book 2 which I can't wait for. Ms. Marie crafted an engaging universe full of creative old school fantasy tropes made fresh with a modern twist. There's even some splashes of sci-fi in there. While I usually don't tend to care about main characters... well... usually... this time was different. Arianne was a well crafted character with rich backstory. I enjoyed the romance in the book as well. It was tasteful and not overdone. While many arcs in this book deserve credit I have to say that my favorite was the tournament with Ace. I refuse to give spoilers so read the book to find out. The humor was also well done. I laughed out loud a few times. This book gave me vibes of X-Men, Avatar (Cameron verse) and the princeess bride with a couple parts having some Tron and Star Wars esk vibes. If you. eed a good refreshing read then come on over and give this awesome book a shot. 5 ⭐.
Narration was engaging from a fresh new narrator. Excited to see him home his craft.

Fast Paced and Heartfelt!
This had all the action of a major blockbuster without shying away from darker side of conflict! The characters were fleshed out and real, and the cast was diverse and fresh! I’m excited to dive into the rest of the series to see where Arianne and Blackjack’s story goes next!

EVERYTHING!!!
I need the second one ASAP!!! All the characters were very VERY well written, the story was awesome. The chemistry between the two main characters was spot on. My overall favorite character was Blackjack. I love his personality, his little quips, humor and everything about him. His backstory was well written. finished the book in 2 and half days and I couldn't get enough of it. There better be a movie made here soon, Ive already casted most of the characters.
We also can't forget the honorable mention of The Man, the Myth, the legend ZACK. Damn was he great! His accents for the characters, the way he voiced all of them, I haven't been listening to audiobooks for very long, this is my second one I've ever read so its kinda difficult for me to comprehend who is who while listening but not this one. I knew exactly who was talking, how they talked their personality etc. Big props to you man, keep it up. I can't wait for the second book. Be safe✌️✌️
