About this listen
Captain Shea Lara and the crew are back in this thrilling sequel to The Veiled Threat, The Veiled Descendants. It's been a year since she struck the deal - a year since she promised to marry her princess, a year of adventure, darkness, and change. Her fiancé has chased Shea across the Nereidan seas, but now it's time for her to come back to Arethusa. The storm has arrived, and none of them are prepared for what’s coming. An elven Fae with a blood connection to Shea, who plans to take Nereid back from the humans, shatters the life of a young Oceanan prince, and now it's up to Beck of Oceanus, Captain Shea, and Queen Joana to save their world from the powerful threat.
But they can't do it alone. With the help of Shea's father, Poseidon, God of the Sea, and her former lover: The goddess of love, she will set out on a quest to find the one being who can help prevent Perses from destroying everything she holds dear. A god, who just so happens to be Shea's immortal brother, Triton.
Shea chose the family she has now, but the tides are changing, and what she wants may no longer matter. She'll need to rely on the magic in her blood for the battle ahead. Perses is coming, with the help of vicious creatures, an evil empress, and the Lycon army, and he plans to drag her down to depths with him.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Possible reason for low ratings? Because...
WRITING AND WORLD ARE GOOD.
But didnt finish. Over all story arc is interesting. If youre here for the relationship, thats probably where the low ratings are from. Writing is good voice ...some SPOILERs to follow to be aware of if youre in it for just the Shea and Jo story!
So if you are okay with a plus 1 then this books amazing but..
If you wanted Jo and Shae from the first book and wanted to see their realtionship as the focus and grow it is kind of hard to listen to (only at ch.20 and its a HARD stuggle). Shae interacts, connects and thinks about a new character most the time and Jo seems more of a side thought when she feels guilty so far. Honestly I dont see how to come back from this without it seeming like Shea settles for Jo or new character 'gives up' on Shea

Weird Story Twist but Entertaining
these stories are really well written. it’s easy to fall into their world and imagine it all and there’s lots of epic adventure in this one! BUT without spoiling, i found myself fast forwarding quite a few parts. there’s an infuriating development early in the book and those moments were difficult to listen to. i still don’t understand why this part of the storyline is there.
digressing...besides that cringy plot point, on the surface this is a fun ride and entertaining follow up. if you loved everything about the 1st book- just beware of a possibly unlikeable story twist that persists thru the whole book, unfortunately

Not what I was expecting
I did not like this book as well as I did the first book. I think the author was trying a bit to hard to pull in mainstream audience. The romance between the two MC's is great and adding to that just takes away from them. And I honestly don't think that Queen Joana would stand for any of that bullshit. And Captain Shea gave up sleeping with the goddess of love for Joana. And now you tell us that she has feelings for this new person for some reason. I don't think it is believable I'm sure I'm not the only one. I was hoping the whole time that the author was not turning the book into what she turned it into. I will hope that the next book is better. I will give it a chance.

No
Just no. I loved the first book and bought this one without reading the reviews....that was my mistake. I am 10000000% here for Jo and Shea....
I have no idea what the point of having this male interloper show up was for...it completely put me off the story and I struggled from the moment he showed up in front of Jo...I just hate it. I stopped listening at ch 9 and I'm not sure that I can even fish this. Very disappointed.
