Publisher's summary

The Weight of the Soul is the eighth in the best-selling Psychic Surveys series, that feature plot twists, compelling characters, and a mystery at its dark heart. Perfect for fans of Stephen King, Darcy Coates, CJ Tudor, and James Herbert.

Life may have moved on to new challenges for Ruby Davis, now being a mother to baby Hendrix, but she's back at the helm of Psychic Surveys, her spiritual domestic clearance company, and the cases just keep getting stranger.

A new client, Carrie-Ann Kendall, has suffered an accident at sea, one that - according to her - she shouldn't have survived. Visiting a clairvoyant who is apparently terrified by her presence, only confirms this notion. It is now up to Ruby and the team to find out whether Carrie-Ann has cheated death. If so, what are the consequences, and for how long?

Leon Vasilescu is the clairvoyant, now missing since encountering Carrie-Ann, and whom Psychic Surveys must track down. But in doing so, they will encounter another danger, one that is far more personal to Ruby and her mother Jessica, and could have them facing death too.

Beautiful

Shani Struthers doesn't ever leave me disappointed!

This is a family's love story.
Warm and fuzzy conclusion.
The light radiates in this one!

I do miss narration by Sheila Dearden - I like Penny Scott Andrews, but I don't think she's the right tone for Psychic Surveys.

It’s an adjustment

OK, I’m not going to lie. I saw the previous reviews, saying that the new narrator, Penny, was a jarring difference. And it is. But I was determined to adjust to her different voice, accents, and embodiment of these characters. We have had 7 previous books to know the voices of the characters as done by Sheila. And this is not Sheila. But I was determined to get there, and I did. The story is excellent and she is a good voice actress. Just not what we were used to.

Narrators thin on the ground?

I was a bit excited to see a new narrator, however we seem to have gone from our heroine being called Wooby to a whole other annoying level of impediment . Still I enjoyed the story.

Narration was absolutely awful

I have listened to all the titles in this series so far. I tried twice - with another audible book in between - to listen to this, and the narration is so distracting and awful I simply couldn't continue.
The new narrator, Penny Scott-Andrews, seems to have entirely missed the mark that these are supposed to be at least a little spooky. She makes everything sound like a child's tea party - uplifting and cute. Perhaps she should try children's books or nursery rhymes.
Her Ruby voice sounds like an 8 year old with a lisp and a cold. The other voices in the book are as bad or worse, as they don't sound much different.
Returning this book. My apologies to Shani Struthers as the story itself might be decent but with this narrator I can't continue to listen to her series.
