About this listen
Under the full moon of World War I, a baleful curse threatens to tear apart a witch’s found family in a novel by the Amazon Charts and Washington Post bestselling author of The Raven Spell.
Petra Kurková—a witch who wields magic worth its weight in gold—is tasked with combating the undead on World War I’s eastern front. The battlefield has yielded a newfound closeness for her spellbound team, especially for Josef Svoboda, a recruiter for the Order of the Seven Stars. But Josef was bitten at the start of the war, leaving his blood tainted by a strain of the vlkodlak curse, which makes him a target of the Order’s latest mission: slay the werewolves prowling the eastern front under the moonlight.
Petra refuses to give up on one of their own. From the hasty kill order of a clandestine society to the long-lost spells in an old grimoire to the unraveling mysteries of Petra’s own past, the urgency to save Josef grows, particularly as his feral impulses become harder to control. The werewolves are closing in. So, too, are the bounty hunters eager to collect. As Petra’s team finds itself at a magical crossroads, Josef devises an ambush of his own—one that could wipe out the cursed threat forever or endanger everything and everyone he loves.

England, 1881. Hereford Cathedral stands sentinel over the city, keeping its secrets, holding long forgotten souls in its stony embrace. Hecate Cavendish speeds through the cobbled streets on her bicycle, skirts hitched daringly high, heading for her new life as Assistant Librarian. But this is no ordinary collection of books. The cathedral houses an ancient chained library, wisdom guarded for centuries, mysteries and stories locked onto its worn, humble shelves. The most prized artifact, however, is the medieval world map which hangs next to Hecate’s desk.

Katarina Ashowan was not made for courtly life. Sure, her father is the famous house witch of Daxaria so she was raised among majestic castles, proper manners, and royal expectations. But Kat is also a mutated witch whose power aligns predominantly with fire. She’s more comfortable riding horses or learning to fight than she is making polite conversation and wearing fancy dresses. Which is why her upcoming assignment—serving her best friend, Alina, the soon-to-be crowned Troivackian queen—is anything but ideal.

Enjoyable continuation
There were only three male voices, so everyone but Joseph and Yanic sounded the same and bled together in my head. Victor I remembered, but all the new men introduced in the book… all the same. But, that wasn’t terrible to my enjoyment. I did like the accents.

Excellent performance
A fun story line to follow as Petra and her crew rush around to save their friend while discovering more of Petra’s past and the source of her power. I thought the narrator was fantastic as well.

Very Unique
There is a love story buried deep beneath the horrors of war and the fantasy of witches and werewolves. The author does a fantastic job of drawing the reader in and making them forget the world outside.

Very interesting
Hopefully there will be more books in this series. It is easy to get involved with the characters and story. The characters are different and have some depth to them.

I need more of this story! 💀👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I binge listened the last 30% or so. Everything picked up so quickly. Almost felt like an SJM ending (iykyk). I really hope there is more to come because I need more. Petra and Josef, with their band of misfits have more adventure to go on.
Instead of battling upíri they must battle werewolf type enemies and more hidden ones as well. Go start these books cause I think they are this Author's best yet. No spice. 3x third person POV. Lots of magic and mystery.
