Publisher's summary

There are times in this life when our beautiful brains become so chemically involved with the likeness of another that the extent of which we would go for them overwhelms all rationale.

We call this love. Receiving love is easy. But giving love, that’s much different. It requires consistent displays of sacrifice, both big and small, and can be exhausting. When you love somebody, you consciously and sub-consciously make these sacrifices for them not because it’s the logical thing to do for your own progress, but because the bond you’ve sealed with their soul ebbs and flows the chemicals in your brain like the moon does the earth’s tides. You realize that you’ve lost all control, and find yourself orbiting their atmosphere as you constantly fall for them, ready to give them anything they need to improve their life, regardless of the cost to yours.

Our lives are built upon the broken backs of the ones who showed us this very same love, who gave us their all, regardless of the cost. Today, we recognize them for their dings, dents, and cracks–and thank them for healing ours.

Our wounded healers. May their love continue to spark the circuit in our brains, and be the current in our veins. This way, they’ll remain forever attached.

A well rounded tale of love and sacrifice.

I came upon this book randomly and was hooked after hearing how soothing the narrators voice is. I did not expect to be sobbing by the end of this when I started. This story is short but the layers it goes through are incredible. Everyone can relate to the feelings portrayed by each character. As soon as the plot becomes clear, I burst into tears and didn’t stop until the end. I also really really enjoyed the music composition. It heightened my emotions and soothed me at the same time. Overall production is incredible. I will be recommending this to my friends and family.

A Romeo Juliet/ Toy Story tale

The message of this book, that appearances don’t matter, is one I can agree with, but it feels incredibly disingenuous coming from someone who bullied me for 20 years, making cruel jokes about my appearance. Even after publishing this book, the author continued to contribute to going out of their way to harm others. It’s hard to reconcile the words in this book with the ongoing actions that have caused real harm. This book could be a powerful reminder for people to treat others with kindness and empathy, but for me, it reads more like a missed opportunity to reflect on the pain caused by their past behavior. I hope that in the future, the author chooses to live by the message they preach, acknowledging the impact of their actions.
