Over 80 percent of Americans aspire to write novels. The crafting of stories is an essential part of our humanity, dating back thousands of years, yet even so, if you want to actually succeed in writing a book, it will require study of the craft and practice.
That's where this magazine comes in.
The Writer's Everything is crafted as a simple, straightforward writing guide. Each issue of this weekly magazine is meant to be listened to in a single afternoon, yet the information provided within is profound and meaningful.
This quarterly release is a compilation of the articles that appeared in the October-December 2019 issues of The Writer's Everything, covering such topics as establishing character motivation, learning by tracing, subverting expectations, and economizing on your creativity, along with 32 questions from the upcoming If So, Why? The Ultimate Character Development Guide, and simple, short explanations of writing concepts such as genre conventions, character archetypes, character arcs, and antagonists.

It does have a good deal of example detail using mostly the popular movies from books, method, or popular shows and TV that all have to use the same elements as a book does - in film. But all writing books I've looked at do this too. This author did well.
You get a great perspective on what you need to consider in the elements of your work.
This is well developed and presented material and clear to its points.
For me, this audiobook was a great reminder that writing is a craft - not a science. It spawns from the joy of reading wonderful tales and seeing great TV and film, and it boils over into the desire for you to write stories just as good. We all have the desire (along with the quest of fame and fortune - learn to write well first) ... the how to do it is a lot tougher than you think. I use (or try to) the elements presented here. And that is the craft - in how - do you develop your story. The author tells you want you need to pay attention to very well. It is up to you to make it happen in your stories.
It does take a deep understanding of the elements presented here. All writing books lead by example. That is all you can do. You may write for many years, and we all try and promote our work. This book is not extensively long. But it covers a lot of the elements and ideas you need to pay attention to.
I found it useful as it is a great reminder of what things a writer needs to pay heed to in the story they want to tell. And do use the chapter arrows as you revisit this book.
Well done.
