Publisher's summary

I've been following advances in electric cars for nearly 50 years and advances in hybrids for 15. I started following electric cars while writing a paper in history class in seventh grade on current events. I started following hybrids when the Honda Insight was released in 1999. I also started following fuel-cell cars about that same time. The Xybrid expands on hybrid technologies, discussing new, potential, and conceptual technologies. If you're interested in cars, and especially if you're interested in hybrids and electric cars, then this book is for you, whether you understand how cars work or not.

Informative Review on the Xybrid Vehicle

This audio book was about the "xybrid vehicle" which is an expansion from a hybrid vehicle. The author gives examples of the technological advances a xybrid vehicle could offer such as the reduction of petroleum by biofuel, plugging in the hybrid to charge, solar power, wind power, piezo electric power, heat power, and fuel cells. The audio book discusses reducing human input by driverless cars, and hypermiling, and it discusses the way we think of cars such as electric engines in tires, skinny cars, window dynamics, modular cars, pods tracks, and aerial trail-ways. This was an informative audio book on discussing potential technologies to cars that can help reduce the nonrenewable energy from hybrid cars, and non hybrid cars. I really liked how the audio book was informative about the technological advances that one can be taken to reduce the nonrenewable energy vehicles currently have. I also like how the author and narrator explained the aerodynamics a vehicle has and what parts of the vehicle causes it such as the vehicle not creating too much friction or drag. From a listener who did not know an ounce of information about the topics discussed, the audio book overall went into depth about each technological advance a vehicle can get to reduce nonrenewable energy, and which cars exactly have a hybrid option. I found interesting that in New York, specifically on Fire Island, Governor Island, and Roosevelt Island that they are carless communities. This is interesting because New York is a large state and there is still carless communities in it. My only critique would be, I wish chapter 21 on modular cars was more specific. I wish the audio book would explain more in depth about bout the versions of a modular vehicle and maybe simplify the terms being used. However, if one had a background in this field unlike myself, they would have most likely would have understood a greater amount than someone like me whom had no previous background on the subject. The narrator was well-informed of the topic at hand and cracked a few jokes while narrating which lightened the mood of an overall informative audio book. The speaker spoke at natural pace and his tone made "time fly by" because of the engagement one has while listening. Overall, the audio book is a great listen for anyone interested in the topic and want to learn about using alternative energy options for a vehicle.
