Publisher's summary

Fifteen years ago, Summer Cole ran away from home, but home never really left her. Even all these years later, she has nightmares about her time there. Her past is even stopping her from being honest with the man that she loves. As an accomplished attorney, she commands the courtroom, but a phone call from her past brings her back to the girl that she was.

Faced with the death of her beloved mother, she goes back to Lexington, Texas, and faces the family that almost destroyed her. While there, she finds that things haven’t changed, and she is the only person that is strong enough to take a stand. Armed with letters from her mother and journals from her past, she faces the men that haunt her nightmare, not only for her future, but for the entire family.

good story, better narrator.

Terrific narration. I would eagerly procure another book read by her in a New York minute.

Family secrets

This hit on some hidden secrets and that need to be exposed and handled…. This story was beautifully written and you relate to the characters and either love them or you want to punch them in the face.

There lies the truth, Maybe?

I am not one that usually listens to this genre which means you can either stop reading now or continue on depending on which camp you fall into! I did find this book well written although a bit on the short side. The action was well put together but it was a bit short on any character development and given the length of the book that is understandable. The characters were minimal, but clear it would have been nice to have them fleshed out a little bit more and have a bit more back story to make them more three dimensional. All of this is contingent upon this being a longer book which it simply is not. In the links of the book it does as well as it can. The main characters are believable and the action is also believable. It’s a fun but short read, remember the genre were talking about so don’t be surprised about adult descriptions, even though they are minimal. For my taste maybe a little to minimal, wink, wink, nod, nod.

I have to comment on narrator, who’s seems to be an up-and-coming talent! I knew nothing of her in the "book world" before her last project. Now she seems to have a certain presence on the ”inter-webs” (My my!) (I’m not sure I would show her pictures to your wife.) But she does have a wonderful voice! On this book it is almost too good. It is flawless! Never a stumble, never a breath intake and never a hitch. As near as I can figure out she seems to be starting out in this profession but already seems to of mastered many of the skills required. Not only does she have a great voice and seems to have had a bit of training to go with it, but you also brings certain amount of passion to her performance. Being the amateur that I am this is where I see room for growth, I would love to see her put more color into her readings, if the authors would allow. Again this is personal taste, and something that is extremely hard to do. I’m looking forward to other projects that this narrator will be involved in.
