Publisher's summary

“The bitingly hilarious, heartfelt This May End Badly takes your favorite fake dating trope and adds plenty of downright delightful shenanigans that’ll have readers tearing through the pages.” (Emma Lord, New York Times best-selling author of You Have a Match)

Pranking mastermind Doe and her motley band of Weston girls are determined to win the century-long war against Winfield Academy before the clock ticks down on their senior year. But when their headmistress announces that The Weston School will merge with its rival the following year, their longtime feud spirals into chaos.

To protect the school that has been her safe haven since her parents’ divorce, Doe puts together a plan to prove once and for all that Winfield boys and Weston girls just don’t mix, starting with a direct hit at Three, Winfield’s boy king and her nemesis. In a desperate move to win, Doe strikes a bargain with Three’s cousin, Wells: If he fake dates her to get under Three’s skin, she’ll help him get back his rightful family heirloom from Three.

As the pranks escalate, so do her feelings for her fake boyfriend, and Doe spins lie after lie to keep up her end of the deal. But when a teacher long suspected of inappropriate behavior messes with a younger Weston girl, Doe has to decide what’s more important: winning a rivalry or joining forces to protect something far more critical than a prank war legacy.

This May End Badly is a story about friendship, falling in love, and crossing pretty much every line presented to you—and how to atone when you do.

I Like Idea, but Doe Is Really Annoying

I'm really disappointed that I gave this rating to this book since I really do love stories about boarding schools
The story is about the long rivalry between Westin school for girls and the Winfield school for boys from the point of view of Doe who is very loyal to her school and actively pranking the boys left and right, until they receive news that the two schools will be merging !!, so she tries her best to prevent this fate to her safe place while trying to piss off the lead prankster from the boys school by fake dating his cousin
this seems like a pretty good story but the plot was barely moving and I really didn't care about Doe, Wells (the cousin who she fake dates ) is more charming than her and he made my experience reading the book more plausible but overall I really didn't care about the story much specially the way Doe was treating Wells like her own slave .. sheesh

the narrator was really good I liked her performance

Unique and entertaining young adult novel

I read this story as an adult based on a recommendation from a friend. I was totally entertained by it. The characters were unique, interesting, and multifaceted. The story was completely engaging and got better and better as the book went on. I hope to see other novels by this author. She is a stand out!

enjoyed this!

I really enjoyed this!! This was a great YA Contemporary Romance with some fun prank wars between rival schools, a fake dating romance that was just so sweet, an awesome friend group, and some pretty serious themes that were tackled. This story had some fun banter and a lot of character growth. I will say our heroine, Doe, was pretty immature at times and her decisions drove me crazy, but that was part of her character arc so I get it...

Overall, a very fun YA contemporary romance that was a fast read and very enjoyable!

Not just another Boarding School Rom-Com

Doe is clever and determined—to a fault.

Boarding school is a haven for Doe. She wants nothing to change even after she graduates. But she learns that the girls’ school plans to merge with the rival boys’ school, and Doe is determined to stop the merger in its tracks.

With unlikely allies, fall-out among prankster friends, and heartbreak that shows her a future blowing up in her face, Doe compels the reader to cheer for her, while wanting to shake her.

I bought this book after reading the other book Audible has by Samantha Markum. No regrets in the purchase. I’ll enjoy reading it again in a year or so.

Found out I like fake dating troupes

This was great book! Revenge, pranks, friends, fake dating mix of just funniness to me! I enjoyed listening to the story! Just Doe. She’s something else when it comes to pranks against Three. She’s slowly learns about Three and Wells family crazy. It takes her awhile to figure her feelings about boys, school and life. I encourage you to read this book!
