Publisher's summary
Instant New York Times Bestseller!
“Patterson’s account is compelling” (Daily Mail). The only major author to have nine holes-in-one gets inside the mystery of Tiger Woods in a biography that reads like an unputdownable thriller.
On April 13, 1986, ten-year-old Tiger Woods watches his idol, Jack Nicklaus, win his record sixth Masters.
Just over a decade later, chants of “Ti-ger, Ti-ger!” ring out as the twenty- one-year-old wins his first Green Jacket.
He blazes an incredible path, winning fourteen major titles (second only to Nicklaus himself) by the time he’s thirty- three, smashing records and raising standards.
Then come multiple public scandals and potentially career-ending injuries.
The once-assured champion becomes an all-American underdog. “YouTube golfer” is how his two children know their father—winless since 2013—until he wins the 2019 Masters, his fifteenth major, before their eyes.
But the story doesn’t end there.
Tiger, Tiger is the first full-scale Woods biography of the decade. In James Patterson’s hands, this story is a hole-in-one thriller.

When twenty-one-year-old Tiger Woods stunned the world by winning The Masters by a mind-blowing twelve strokes, the first thing he did was embrace the three most important people in his life: his father, his mother, and Hughes Norton. Now, in Rainmaker, Norton offers “the most amazing ‘behind the curtain’ view ever written about the world of sports management” (Jim Nantz, CBS Sports). This is an engaging and unforgettable memoir that explores golf as never before.

Story
The task facing Steve Stricker at the 2021 Ryder Cup was enormous. It was his job, as the American captain, to stare down almost 40 years of Ryder Cup history, break a pattern of home losses that had persisted almost as long, and reverse the tide of European dominance in one of golf's most tense and emotional events. This was the epitome of a must-win, but it was also something more—in the entire 93-year history of the event, no American side had ever faced this kind of pressure.

We are living in the Wild West of college sports. Name, Image and Likeness endorsements, the transfer portal, collectives, conference realignment, the powerful influence of media companies have all rendered the notion of amateur athletics a quaint relic of the past, replaced by a Brave New World where money and self-interest rule. The Price is a sweeping, in-depth, thought-provoking look at an inflection point in big-time college football.

Story
Tiger Woods’ long descent into a personal and professional hell reached bottom in the early hours of Memorial Day in 2017. Woods’ DUI arrest that night came on the heels of a desperate spinal surgery, just weeks after he told close friends he might never play tournament golf again. The former paragon of discipline now found himself hopelessly lost and out of control, exposed for all the world to see. That episode could have marked the beginning of Tiger’s end. It proved to be the opposite.

Story
In the early 1900s, prior to World War I, New York City was a vortex of vice and corruption. On the Lower East Side, then the most crowded ghetto on earth, Eastern European Jews formed a dense web of crime syndicates. Gangs of horse poisoners and casino owners, pimps and prostitutes, thieves and thugs, jockeyed for dominance while their family members and neighbors toiled in the unregulated garment industry. But when the notorious murder of a gambler attracted global attention, a coterie of affluent German-Jewish uptowners decided to take matters into their own hands.

Derick Lugo had never been hiking. He certainly couldn't imagine going more than a day without manicuring his goatee. But with a job cut short and no immediate plans, this fixture of the New York comedy scene began to think about what he might do with months of free time. He had heard of the Appalachian Trail, but he had never seriously considered attempting to hike all 2,184.2 miles of it. Suddenly he found himself asking, Could he do it?

In Wildlife Wars, Terry Grosz serves up fascinating stories - alternately hair-raising, hilarious, and heart-wrenching - from his 30-year struggle to protect wildlife in America. A natural storyteller, Grosz writes about the remarkable characters he met - on both sides of the law - as he matched wits with elk poachers, salmon snaggers, commercial-market duck hunters, and a host of other law-breakers. Best of all, though, these stories are so remarkably entertaining you won't want to put them down.

Nothing really new
Thorough, chronological account of the known life of Tiger Woods. If you are much of a golf fan you won't hear anything new about Tiger. Lots of researching of past information was probably hard work though. I expected more from James Patterson. Read/listen to Hank Haney's book to get a little behind the scenes info about Tiger. Performer should learn correct pronunciations.

Lots of information but such a favorable biography as to make it a puff piece. Reader’s mistakes makes it humorous
Patterson provides lots of new and interesting information. The incredible amount of information is the books great redeeming feature. It is such a friendly biography, that never holds Tiger accountable. Tigers affairs are only briefly mentioned. There is no discussion of Tigers very poor record in the Ryder Cup.
It’s disappointing and seems to have been written, purely to burnish peoples image of Tiger Woods.
The reader, clearly doesn’t know anything about golf, consequently his mispronunciations of golfers’ names actually makes it humorous. He keeps pronouncing Seve as Steve; and José Maria’s last name is badly mangled.

Basics with some interesting tidbits
Overall it’s not much we didn’t know. Some interesting stories from Tiger’s friends but again nothing most golf fans haven’t heard. The narrator clearly is not a golf guy. He often mispronounces names, golf courses and trophies. Patterson is a great writer but he should have listened to audio before releasing.

Great book!
Iwas pleasantly surprised to see that James Patterson (one of my favorite authors) was the author of this, it did not disappoint. It was wonderful to have some insight into Tiger’s journey. I recommend this for all Tiger fans.

Tiger is human
From watching Tiger playing golf on TV, always thought he was from another planet. He actually is a determined, disciplined, inspiring human being, that prioritizes family before anything else.
Thanks for sharing this book.

Should have asked a golfer to narrate
The story is very good but the narration is terrible. Most of the golf course names and golf terminology are mispronounced. If the narrator called Seve Ballesteros “Steve” one more time I was going to stop listening.

Really great history lesson but bad pronunciation.
Was really excited about this and it was good but the narrator said so many names incorrectly it was infuriating.

Very thorough and enlightening.
It was a good overview of Tiger's life and career. It would have been better with a narrator who has ever watched or played golf. At least do a pronunciation review before publication.
It felt like the book was read "cold' with no preparation. Same name/term would be pronounced differently. Many golf terms and players' names were butchered... STEVE Ballestrros? Tony Fin-now? aZINGer? Many others. Get a sports/golf analyst from NBC or ESPN to re recoed it.

Narrator mispronouncing too often
The story is basically a chronological review of tiger’s career no real personal insights
But the constant mispronouncing of players’ names, course names and even the name of the trophies was irritating
