Publisher's summary

Private Michael Kolcek used to be a sergeant. But honestly, he never cared a whole lot about that sort of thing. His time as a linguist in the army is almost up, so he spends most of his days left in Germany trying to pick up frauleins at the pub. But the army has other plans for him, as it often does. The cannibal plague had spread to Russia. While there was no love lost between United States Army and the godless Communists, it was fairly close to its NATO allies. So the army put a team of specialists together to go into Russia and see what the fuss was all about. Turns out they needed a linguist, too. Kolcek was in for the duration. Some days you can't ditch the military police. Other days, it's harder to get out of the army. But every day, during the Russian Conflict of the Zombie War, the enemy was always bigger. Stronger. Hungrier. Well, maybe not hungrier. Kolcek didn't eat before the flight...

I very much enjoyed listening to this audio book.

Sprenger's reading was excellent---easy to understand, and adding just the right amount of emotion to the text. I especially enjoyed the Russian accents!

A funny tale that kept me entertained throughout!

To Russia, with Zombies by Derwin Lester Sr. is a funny zombie outbreak tale starring Private (now Sargent) Kolcek. Kolcek was literally days away from getting to go home when his expert linguist status gets him shipped to Russia to try and help out and translate at the China zombie epidemic grows. Well, by the time they get there the plague has quickly spread, as it typically does in events such as the zombie-pocalypse. The poop hits the fan over and over again throughout this tale, and the fact that Putin had to be put down is supposed to remain a secret. Kolcek get put in charge of his own group even though he can't hit a target with a pistol (though he's an expert with a rifle) and has never led any military group. He finds himself with a hulk of a man acting as his personal bodyguard, though he doesn't ever speak...and the craziness goes on. It was just a fun, quick story and if the summary sounds like something that you'd enjoy, I'd check it out. You'd probably really enjoy the story.

Jason Sprenger did a good job narrating To Russia, with Zombies. The tale overall was funny and lighthearted, even though there were people dying and zombies everywhere. Mr. Sprenger had a good narrative voice for this type of tale. Occasionally it seemed like he was talking with a bit of an accent where an accent wasn't warranted, but overall he was easy to understand and a good fit for this tale! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

short but I loved it

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a short but highly enjoyable book. I love zombie apocalypse stories, and this was a great example. I just wish it was a full length book. I was bummed when it was over. The narration is great and I was very entertained for the entire hour and 43 minutes.

Who knew the apocalypse could be so fulfilling!

Here we have a short synopsis of a possible apocalyptic world. The setting for a change is Russia as our intrepid soldier struggles to understand what is happening and ultimately survive. This short story appears to be a prequel of the author’s full series. It is somewhat interesting, but entirely too short. Who knew the apocalypse could be so fulfilling. Three.point.five. Kept me laughing

This was a lot funnier than I expected it to be! It made me laugh out loud more than once, largely due to Jason Sprenger's performance. His tone and timing were perfect for the material, and somehow his voice made me picture Bruce Campbell as I listened. I am so glad I gave it a chance!
