3.5* ENJOYABLE BUT SADLY NOT MEMORABLE

I love 'Highlander' stories with their kilt wearing, broadsword wielding, handsome Alpha Highlanders and, whilst this was entertaining, it was also quite predictable. An arranged marriage, the heroine forced to betray the hero but it all worked out in the end.

Maybe it's because I have listened to so many in this genre that the bar has been set high with other more exciting books, yes there was romance, feuds, betrayal, secrets, sex a bit of drama and a bitter manipulative Father but it all felt rather 'light' listening and it just wasn't gritty enough for me.

Worth a credit? If you want a fairly tame Highland tale where everyone's nice, caring and kind to each other (except the Father) then you'll enjoy this listen but I think it's one to put in your Wish List and wait for a sale.

can't wait for the next book

the narrator was great. victoria roberts now has 2 highlander books on audio and I can't wait for the next one. she not only spins a tale of mystery and romance but adds sword fighting as only highlanders can fight, with heros and heroines. I loved it.

Just where is Book 2 in this entertaining series?

Would you listen to To Wed a Wicked Highlander again? Why?

Given time this tightly written tale will mostly definitely become a go to book for easy, uncomplicated entertainment. You can NEVER go wrong with a Carrington MacDuffie reading.

What was one of the most memorable moments of To Wed a Wicked Highlander?

I liked and appreciated the way the author incorporated what is now known as early Alzheimer's disease in the character of Alexander's aunt. Her scenes were amusing and touching at the same time.

Have you listened to any of Carrington MacDuffie’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Carrington MacDuffie ranks among my top 3 female readers. I've yet to listen to a single reading that she's failed to nail the characters & essence of the story. Kudos Carrington for doing your homework!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Sybella sees her father for who he truly is and that risking her happiness means nothing to him was cruel, but when he locks her away to die because she won't betray her husband was gut wrenching.

Any additional comments?

Audible, please release book 2 in this series. And if you could see the right of having
Carrington read that book as well, all the better.

Loved the story

The story was great. The narrator needs to work on the men's voices. They sounded a bit to much like a woman. .

Horrible narration and lacklustre writing.

A decent editor could tidy up this story into something workable as the bones of it aren't bad but the author has a regrettable tendency towards repeating herself, often within the same sentence, which succeeds in making nonsense of the prose, i.e. a reflection having a reflection. The narrator however, is the last nail in the coffin and this one seems to feel that a Highland burr can only be effectively conveyed by ending every phrase with a rising terminal, thereby making them all sound like questions. She also endows the heroine with high-pitched voiced, perhaps intending to portray her youth and scatter-brained choices, but which merely results in becoming an added irritant.
