Publisher's summary

The Torchwood team and Martha face danger at CERN in this special BBC radio episode, starring John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Gareth David-Lloyd, and Freema Agyeman.

Following the tragic deaths of two of their colleagues, only Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper, and Ianto Jones remain of Torchwood, protecting humanity against the unknown.

Martha Jones, ex-time traveller and now working as a doctor for UNIT, has been called to CERN, the world's largest particle physics laboratory, in Geneva. They're about to activate the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), designed to recreate conditions after the Big Bang and thus give an insight into what the universe is made of. But so much could go wrong: it could open a gateway to a parallel dimension, or even create a black hole.

Voices from the past are calling out to people from the LHC, and scientists have started to disappear. Where have they gone? What is lurking in the underground tunnel - and do the dead ever really stay dead?

Based on the award-winning BBC Wales TV production Torchwood, "Lost Souls" stars John Barrowman, Eve Myles, Gareth David-Lloyd and Freema Agyeman, with Lucy Montgomery, Stephen Critchlow, and Mark Meadows.

A great bridge between series 2 and children of earth a.k.a. series 3

Very cool to hear the BBC broadcast of torchwood that would dramatize on BBC radio :-) I recently got the whole series to torchwood the Lost files, because it's very hard to get on CD in America. I was super stoked that audible carried it in their library of radio TV broadcast shows . At the time when I was looking for that it was 2012 , and I had no idea that they had done several other broadcast shows on the radio that will crossovers and in between series tie-ins to seasons one through four . This one I particularly thoughtless awesome! Love how it Tizen also when the doctor who finale with David Tennant which also had Freema A. who plays Martha Jones on both Dr. who and torchwood and that she came in for this radiobroadcast which explains what happens after season two before season three and even what was going on after we last Zickley saw her on David Tennant's last episode of Dr. Who. The reason why Mansinthe much about the episode is hate spoilers which a lot of people say a lot about the episode and giveaway even the plot what happens how it ends etc. I didn't want to do that I just wanted to say to the people who actually watch the show this is something worth checking out and it's only $3.95

Lost Souls return to the radio, true to form

Lost Souls is a radio dramatization, featuring the cast of Torchwood and set between its second season and their appearance in season four of Doctor Who. Written by Joseph Lidster, who's written for the show on television, Lost Souls is a Torchwood tie-in to the Large Hadron Collider's initialization day.

While the story takes advantage of the full cast, I'm not sure it took advantage of the audio medium. Some scenes, especially the introduction of the cast, seem like they would have played better on the television screen.

It also seemed like the LHC tie-in was played too much; it seemed like the audience was being fed more technical background than they would have for something that didn't exist in the real world.

Despite those, though, Lost Souls was still an enjoyable story. I would have rated it at 4/5 starts...

...except the promised "Torchwood All-Access Bonus Feature" (see the cover art) is missing from here, so I'm docking the score to reflect that. Caveat emptor.

Captain Jack Harkness Loves Ianto but John Barrowman is married...is that Cheating?

Fast paced sci-fi although the science isn't accurate the entertainment is perfection. Torchwood Lives! Five star recommendation.

I want another season of Torchwood

I so miss Captain Jack and Gwen. Good story and the format brings back all the fun of the TV show. Wish it had lasted longer, the story and the show.

Torchwood is alive and well!

We all know the characters if you've watched Torcheood, to hear the audio drama is just wonderful, especially these short stories, perfect on a lunch break. I can see the characters, the places, and in a way, feels like I'm caught up in the moment, as if I'm really there with them all.

brilliant

A treat to get an episode - style performance to help wrap up where the show left off. But the topic is bittersweet, since Owen and Tosh are dead.

A great fill in between seasons

Like the audio books, this narration is a great fill-in between the second and third seasons. In fact, that is exactly what it is.

Owen and Tosh's funerals have come and gone and the remianing Torchwood team are trying to pull themselves together again. Martha (from Doctor Who, for those of you new to Torchwood) calls on them to help her with a strange case in Switzerland, where she continues to work for UNIT. Jack, Ianto, and Gwen hop on a plane to come to her aid.

The story is the length of an actual TV episode, minus the commercials. There are special effects and music. Each character is narrated by the actor who plays them on TV, making this audio especially fun to listen too. The story is interesting and it was fun to have a case that takes place outside of their normal jurisdiction.

Have a listen while you (and I) wait for the third season to premiere.
