Publisher's summary

When PC Andy Davidson arrests a young girl for shoplifting, he thinks it's going to be a routine case. That is, until he sees that she is carrying a gun. The girl is soaking wet, covered in mud, and the weapon is like nothing he's ever seen before. He knows that this is a case for Torchwood....

The team discovers that the girl is called Freda, but can find out nothing else. Yet when she speaks, it's a strange mix of English and Icelandic, but with a Cardiff accent. While Jack and Ianto check out the girl's weapon and her blood sample at the Hub, Gwen and PC Andy take Freda to a safe house.

But when Jack calls with the results - and Freda goes on the run - PC Andy finds his world turning upside down.

Written specially for BBC Radio by Anita Sullivan, Asylum stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones and Tom Price as PC Andy Davidson. Contains adult themes and language.

Ends kinda sudden.

I am uncertain if this was the entire story or if there is a part two. A girl falls through the rift from the future to the present. The end. Was this all ?

Another entertaining Story from Torchwood.

I'm not sure I will ever get used to this style of performance with the story being told through the characters with no real narration. Luckily, the characters so well known to me that that doesn't matter.

The story is simple and well paced in this short production keeping you glued to the audio book for the duration.

If you have an hour to fill, this is a good listen.

Excellent

Excellently done. As always, it is a pleasure to hear the original Torchwood actors playing their parts to perfection. Sound effects and superb writing, not to mention voice acting, make it easy to picture the action almost as clearly as seeing it on screen. A definite recommendation for all Torchwood fans.

Want More Asylum Stories

What a great idea. Not just hunting down aliens but integrating some of the less threatening ones into (humanoid-ish) into the population & the trials & tribulations that go along with that. I'm sure Jack, Ianto & Gwen could have some fun with that.

Good to hear them all again..

It was wonderful to hear Jack, Gwen and Ianto again, but I wish I could say the story was better :( I am a diehard Torchwood fan, and this just didn't live up to what I expect from them. It was a good listen, but probably a one timer..

Cleverly written solid performances

This is an enjoyable piece, it doesn't further the story of Torchwood or any of its main characters too much. Fans of Andy will enjoy it as he has a significant role in this tale. The opening is a bit confusing until the listener has finished the piece and then it makes far more sense. The plot revolves around a confused young woman that is arrested for shoplifting and found to have future tech on her when she is brought in. Andy gives Gwen a call and off we go. The core moral at the story is interesting and timely and the writing is interesting especially some of the young woman's dialogue. Anyone with little knowledge of Torchwood will be able to jump in as there is little if any reference to the hub etc and the story is largely self contained.
