Publisher's summary

She's always been off-limits. He's always just out of reach.

Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s all worth the consequences.

Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.

Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.

Tortured Skye is the second book in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is not meant to be listened to as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be listened to in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots.

Emotionally gripping, full of angst, passion, love

Emotionally gripping, full of angst, passion, and love neither will divulge for the other. I just wanted to scream at Gabe and Skye to just get over theirselves, because it was painful knowing they belonged together, and could in fact help each other heal the burdens they'd been fighting for years. Gabe fought the pull because Skye is his best friend's sister and their family were his surrogate family, but alas the feelings that just got stronger couldn't be ignored. And when danger appears on the horizon,
who will rescue who? After some action and suspense to put it all in perspective, love wins. A tortured veteran, a tortured survivor, a love great enough to put them back together. Great narration to bring it to life from Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman.

Tortured Skye

I thoroughly enjoyed this second installment. While it can be read as a standalone, I think you'll enjoy it more if read in order. I know having the backstory between Gabe, Skye, and her brother Savage helped bring the conflicts they were all feeling to life. The narration was fantastic, and overall I think I enjoyed this one's story even better than the first. It's definitely worth a credit! Enjoy!

Tortured Skye

This is the second book in The Hawke Family series. This is Skye’s book. It is a brother’s best friend trope. These books can be read as standalone books but I don’t suggest it. Gabe is Savage’s best friend and business partner. They have been through a lot together. Gabe is battling major PTSD from the recent events involving Savage and his wife. Skye is no longer a young girl. She is a drop dead gorgeous woman. Skye has secretly been in love with Gabe for ten years. She is not handling Star’s death well. They help each other through the tough times and come out stronger. Will they loose Savage along the way? Loved this book can’t wait for Storm’s book!

A Great Continuation

I am loving Gwyn McNamee's books. She writes well with great storylines and wonderful characters. I've easily become invested in the Hawk family. My heart ached for Gabe and Skye. I was holding my breath at the end. Seeing characters from previous books adds so much to a series. I can't wait for the next book.

Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman are excellent narrators. They performed this perfectly, bring the characters to life. It rolled like a movie in my head.

Great Brother's best friend romance

This is the second book in the Hawke Family Series. I liked Gabe and Sky's story. This is a great brother's best friend romance. This story has it all: forbidden romance, angst, suspense, drama, and twists and turns. Lee Daniel and Dash Coleman did a great job bringing this story to life. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Stone Sober, the next book in the series. #StoryOrigin #PFPAudio

The Hawke Family Series!

Tortured Skye (The Hawke Family, Book 2) is Skye Hawke's book, a best friend's brother trope and I loved it. Wonderful inner dialogue and expressing the character's thoughts and motives. I adore the supporting characters as I love the Hawke Family characters and am excited to listen to the other books in the series. Gabes's character was complex and compelling. Skye Hawke's character is also compelling and complex. A Tempest with angst, drama, unexpected twists, smexy moments, and suspense intricately entwined to create an entertaining listen.

Lee Daniels, Dash Coleman dual narration was purely entertaining. The tone and mood were set perfectly.

Tortured Skye!

This is such a good best friend's sister story. The quote "Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you." says it all. The story is about Skye and Gabe. They share something that ends in disaster since then they have both struggled. Their story is an emotional roller coaster ride with ups, downs, twists and turns. This is the second story in the "Hawke Family" series. It can be read as a stand alone one but I wish I had read the first one first.

Excellent Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Intense!

Gwyn McNamee pens another amazing romance novel, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book, it also tugged on my heartstrings. The characters are complex, two tortured souls that are perfect together and for each other. Skye Hawke has always had a thing for Gabe Anderson, her older brother’s best friend who became part of their family over the years. Gabe has been Skye’s go to whenever she needed to be bailed out of trouble, and he always came to her rescue without ever telling her brother or family about it. Gabe had a soft spot for Skye, as well as other feelings, but he would never act on them out of respect for Savage, his best friend. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and inevitably, they would give in to it. But guilt prevents him from going any further and he puts a stop to it, which breaks Skye’s heart. But when he fears Skye is in trouble, he thinks he knows where she is and with who, and goes after her, but getting to her is not so easy with the torrential rainstorm and once he gets there, he is in his own trouble. I loved how everything played out in this cleverly plotted story, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Skye was a pleasant surprise in this book since I did not care for her much in the first book, especially how she treated Danika, Savage’s then girlfriend. Danika was understanding it was her being protective and in this book they are best of friends. I was a little surprised by Savage’s reaction to Gabe and his sister, but then again, Gabe was always a player and he did not want him playing her. Anyway, just my two cents, and I highly recommend reading or listening to the first book before this one, Skye and Gabe, both appear in that book, plus you learn the details of what happened to Savage and Skye’s sister. Gwyn McNamee, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Gwyn McNamee chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that characters, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Conflicted

I am in between liking and not liking this book. I feel like there’s so many unnecessary drama and how Luke ended up at the end is unfair to him. It was his house in the middle of no where. I would have done the same if someone with a gun at my house. So yeah I feel unjustified. Lee & Dash did an amazing job at narrating

Too Tortured for Love!

Skye is Gabe’s best friend’s baby sister and Gabe is practically family. Gabe and Skye have both been through a lot in the last few years and they are still sorting themselves. If Gabe and Skye give into their desire, will they implode their lives or just take down the walls they’ve built around their hearts? If you’re looking for a spicy HEA is full of angst, twist and turns with a forbidden love then you’ll enjoy this one. The only thing better than reading this one was listening to the narrators bring it to life! I couldn't stop listening!
