Publisher's summary

The drums of war beat amid global economic ruin. The skies, not the trenches, will decide the survivors. Rich men marshal their resources as all sides race to acquire 100-octane aviation gasoline, an unproven, unstable witches' brew that could fuel the fastest attack aircraft. In a brutal maze of corporate treason, personal blackmail, and imperfect heroism, a young, brilliant petroleum engineer battling the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma may hold the key.

Eight years ago in Jerusalem, schoolgirl Saba Hassouneh survived the murder of her family. Sentenced to the barbaric refugee camps, Saba is freed by a legendary Bedouin freedom-fighter. She embraces his life of a bandit/rebel, evolving into a fearsome Arab nationalist femme de guerre hunted by the colonial powers and religious mullahs. Saba has one mission: free her people.

An epic historical thriller from acclaimed author Charlie Newton, Traitor's Gate races toward the first shot of WWII. As the world's true rulers vie for dominion, two unlikely lovers collide. Their attraction is immediate, their goals opposite.

Good Story - Not so for character development

I liked the historical context of this story but had to force my way through it. The caricatures of the protagonist and any one from Texas was almost comical if it were not so bad. The excessive cursing took away from the story making these characters seem incongruent with the story. The vernacular and excessive cursing seem to be a substitute to more developed effective writing. I just wasn't impressed with the writing of this story. I will pass on further work from this author.

Loved the leading lady’s background and the love and values her and the American shared.

Beautiful story, excellent plot, history and portrayal of a strong Palestinian leading female. Very relevant to todays Palestinian struggle.

Excellent HIstorical Thriller

Traitor's Gate is an excellent historical thriller set in the period of the Nazi rise in Germany until early WWII. The two main characters are an oil engineer from Oklahoma and a Palestinian warrior woman. The settings vary from Palestine, several other Mideastern countries, and Oklahoma/Texas with the largest portion of the book being in the Canary Islands which are part of Spain although far west of the Spanish coast. The need of both England and Germany to get the aviation fuel needed to fight what became WWII.

The settings are mostly historically accurate from the Palestinian and Jewish forces seeking to drive England from the Palestinian territories, to the fight between Palestinians and Jews, to the collaboration of Henry Ford, Standard Oi, and other US interests with the German Nazis.

Luke Daniels does a superb job of narration.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Improbable but fun.

Good historic detail. Some unlikely coincidences but some great characters. Worth the listen to me.

Get hurt over and over again. So repetitive and predictable. Redundant and unbelievable themes. How many times do we get to hear

Redundant and repetitive over and over again. How many times do we get to hear the same themes and our hero and heroine getting hurt and almost dying?
