Grace Martindale has known more than her share of hardship. After her parents died, raising her two younger sisters became her responsibility. A hasty marriage to a minister who is heading to the untamed West seemed like an opportunity for a fresh start, but a cholera outbreak along the wagon trail has left Grace a widow in a very precarious position. The story flows well and gives a wonderful glimpse of life during that time. Some parts were almost too harsh to bear. The clear voice of Ms Cozart is much appreciated.

This is a really sweet story, though terrifying to re-live in a way, through fiction, the terror that probably many pioneers went through.
The high pitched voice used for the male characters was distracting to me.
Otherwise there is a wonderful message in this story.

Grace, the eldest sister, is charged with caring for her younger sisters after their parents death. She uses the traditions of her mother and grandmother to serve others .

Although there are Oregon Trail events and situations that depicted history, the typical happy ever after ending was not typical of real life.

A historical novel with Christian values

Very easy read, not recommended for children however. Love and Family! Some historical topics also.

I'll be looking for audible books with Cassandra Campbell as the narrator. She does an awesome job.

This was a wonderful book full of suspense, surprises and faithfulness of love. Three sisters are struck by disaster and learn to cope with the loss and trauma in their own way. They find help through other people and ultimately there faith in God and trust Him no matter what happened. Mrs. Peterson another excellent story!
