Publisher's summary

Lies ruin lives.

Ignacio Torres, the translator for Blackbridge Security, has told his fair share and then some. He lied more than once to Tinley Holland when they were teens.

Told her he didn’t love her.

Told her he could live without her.

Told her what they shared didn’t mean a thing.

He’s lived with those lies, lived with the loss of her for over a decade.

What he didn’t expect was going home to help with a family matter, only to discover Tinley has told the biggest lie of all.

Truth

Ig and Tinley work so well together. You are stuck in the first few lines with all the emotions that they each are feeling.
The narrators do a fantastic job in getting all these through to the readers.
One of the best.

All the lies

This is the first time I am listening to Gomez Pugh, well done!!!

I do love a second Chance romance and holy mother of god did Tinley make Ignacio work for it.

When Ignacio gets called back to his crappy hometown he had no clue that he was going to see the only woman he has ever loved and left heartbroken the day before high school graduation. Then he sees her with a kid and he starts doing the math. Can it be?

Such a great book and kudos to the narrators. Fine job.

What an amazing Second Chance Romance story

Ignacio and Tinley's story in the beginning was heart breaking. Ig thought he was doing what was best for Tinley. Only to come back to Houston and find out they have a son and her life was anything but easy. My heart breaks for both Tinley and Ig for all the things they have been through. But Marie always finds an amazing way to redeem her characters. Love the Blackbridge Security Series.

Emotional and swoony

I think this is the 3rd time listening to the entire series. I love each of the Blackbridge characters. Each story has its unique style but I think this one is the most emotional of them all. Each of the books are spicy and fast paced. Love them all!

My Thoughts on Truth Be Told

Marie James has got to be one of the few authors that I start off my book review by saying OMG I love that bird. Especially when this book is not about birds. But since starting this series I feel like every review contains that sentence in some way shape or form. Puff Daddy has got to be the most hilarious character that Marie James has ever written. And he's a freaking bird. He definitely steals the show in whatever scene he's in but it always brings a fantastic levity to the moment no matter what's going on. And this book definitely had several moments where levity was needed. This story dealt with several very hard subjects. From childhood trauma, to losing parents and loved ones, to secret children and so many more. But as usual it was written in that special way that this author has that has you completely engaged in the story. I was hooked within the first few pages. Even when I was a little bit nervous that I might not like one of the main characters depending on how everything was handled. But of course it was handled perfectly to have me rooting for everyone's happy ending by the end. This was such a great story and once again I'm excited for what's to come.

The narration was great. Callie Dalton is a narrator that I've grown to really appreciate from many other books I've heard her in. But Gomez Pugh was new to me. He had a calm soothing voice that I enjoyed. I think he was a great choice for the accent needed for this character as well as just in general. I would certainly like to listen to more of him in future.

My two cents

I truly liked this story. I think it was pretty realistic with the right amount of fiction. However, I was disconnected to the relationship because of the narrator (specifically GP). I feel like his narration was good but it lost the cohesion from the other books. It was hard for me to really connect to the romantic aspect of the story because the voices were not as “powerful” to the reading. Not saying he did terrible it just left a void in the character charisma. I may try GP again just in a different genre. Maybe adventure or even documentary type books.

That’s my only critique.

Irritating woman lead character

Overall I liked the story but if I could I would smack Tinley upside her. head. They both bad decisions when they were young that resulted in them being apart for years but she just couldn't get past it for most of the book which really irritated me. I think if she came around sooner then TBE family aspect of her ,him and the boy could of been more explored. I still love Puff Daddy. The narrators did a okay job but TBE guys voice could of f been deeper and the voice he used for Deacons made him sound not so manly.

The results of decisions made as a desperate kid.

Ignacio, Tinley & Alex
The narration is really good. His accent is just slight as Ignacia's should be as a linguist. Having read the book a while back, the audio made for the best bedtime story.

The first lie came too many years ago. She had a chance and he wouldn't let her give it up for him. Little did he know she told a big one--of omission. When he came back for his only living relative she was still there. How had that happened? And why hadn't she told him her secret?

He has a chance to change his life. Oh, he'd gotten out of the town that crushed everyone who stayed. He was in a good place with Blackbridge Security. He had money. But did he have a personal life? She was still there living a life that was crushing her and those with her. Could they forgive the lies? Was there a future for them?

You can't say this is an insta-love story. There is plenty to work through with rewards at the end. I loved their fight to find a life. The advice from the team was--well typical including Puff Daddy of course. What would a Blackbridge story be without him? Puff has his own problems. Another winner with the team and a new lady and surprise guest for them all. Don't miss it.

Great second chance romance!!

Fantastic book. I was surprised with the narration change, but Gomez Pugh pulled it off. This is Ignacio and Tinley's story. How they started out young and in love and how it is all taken away in the blink of an eye. Fast forward 13 years and all the lies and deceit from the past catch up to them and make them realize they have something worth fighting for.
