Publisher's summary

Former tour manager and plane crash survivor Ron Eckerman reveals the rigors of life on the road as Lynyrd Skynyrd takes the world by storm in 1976, and the ironic turn of events preceding the tragic plane crash in 1977. Ron narrated this audio originally in 2011.

Ron lost a one year battle with acute myeloid leukemia in May of 2014. He asked just a few

weeks prior to his passing to re-release the paperback, add photos, and donate any proceeds to the Leukemia Foundation. A book about Ron's cancer battle, The Last Tour: Love, Laughter, and Tears was released in November of 2014 by his wife and caregiver, about his courageous battle against leukemia. He never gave up hope and he never stopped smiling. It is also available on Amazon as in paperback and Kindle, and will soon be released in audio. The Last Tour: Love, Laughter, and Tears by Carolyn Day, and proceeds will also go to the Leukemia Foundation.

Great account, poor ending.

Very informative. My only complaint is how short his account of the crash is.. understandable, but as one of the last living survivors I expected him to go into much greater detail then he did. The crash is more of a footnote.

Heart warming story of rock and roll and family

A rare look behind the curtain of the best Band to every grace the stage. Told by someone who was right there with them. Great book. Makes you miss Ronnie, Steve and Cassie that much more.

Highly recommend

If you are a Skynyrd fan this is a great book for you! It’s such an intimate look into the life of the band on tour, and I learned more details about things that were alluded to in Gene Odom’s book.

Really great read.

I loved this book. Very detailed, honest and I got a better feel for the band and how the shows/concerts were handled.
I was perfectly happy with the ending because anyone’s that a Skynyrd lover already knows the horrific details of that crash. I prefer learning more about their days from the beginning. Great book.
**it seems there is a lot of survivor’s guilt. God Bless them all.

Loved this book, a great tribute to the original band.

Very well written acconunt of Lynyrd Skynyrd in the early years and up until the crash. Ron Eckerman is an incredibly interesting and brilliant man, his stories about life on the road were entertaining and gave a behind the scenes look for any Skynyrd fan.

Sad story about the band

This is a great book about the bands most successful years. It is a sad story that it had to end with a plane crash. It is definitely worth listening to.

Good listen author reading story he survived.

Amount details from life on the road got a bit monotonous, capturing the grind of touring. Same stuff/different town.
***SPOILER ALERT***
Abrupt ending captured the feeling of how everything ended abruptly for Skynyrd, but it left me disappointed. Wish he had written an Epilogue to shed light on events AFTER the crash.
