Publisher's summary

Two thousand years ago, the prophecy of fire and light foretold the coming of the queen empress who would lead the empire into a time of peace and tranquility. But instead of the coming of a prosperous world, a forbidden love for the empress waged a war that ravaged the land, creating a chasm between the factions and raising the death toll of innocent lives until the final, bloody battle.

Centuries later, Alexandra, a 22-year-old barista living in Boston, is taken to an unfamiliar realm of mystery and magic where her life is threatened by Reylor, its banished lord steward. She crosses paths with Treyan, the arrogant and seductive crown prince of the empire, and together, they discover how their lives, and their love, are so intricately intertwined by a prophecy set in motion so many years ago.

Alex, now the predestined Queen Empress Alexstrayna, whose arrival was foretold by the annals of the empire, controls the fate of her new home as war rages between the crown prince and lord steward. Either choice could tear her world apart, as she attempts to keep the empire’s torrid history from repeating itself.

In a realm where betrayal and revenge will be as crucial to her survival as love and honor, Alex must discover whether it is her choice - or her fate - that determines how she survives the empire’s rising conflicts.

Two Thousand Years

M Dalton’s first installment from her The Empire Saga, Two Thousand Years, was a good read. I had the opportunity to listen the audio version with narration done by Amanda Abeillan. I thought Amanda did a great job bringing the story to life. She brought some excitement even to some of the slower scenes that made want to keep listening. The book has some magical adventure, romance and one strong female.
I am giving Two Thousand Years four stars. I would be interested in listening to book two of the series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

audio with a focal point for getting lost

Audio was the way to go with this. I was able to get lost within the worlds of the story and a times of confusion. Just a button or two would take me back and allow for me to revisit. I was excited by the blurb that I read. It pulled me in to wanting to see what a fantasy based with a barista and another realm would have to offer.

I had my moments when I was asking myself. Is she really going to just take this? Where would things go if this happened? Why did that take place? Wait a minute, did that just really happen? There was a lot going on with this one. I had a new world to get familiar with. I had new characters to like or not like. I was trying to grab hold of the general to forge forward for a better outcome.

There was much here that had me listening all the way to the end. There were also things that had me repeating sections to make sure what I heard was really what I heard. Overall, I did enjoy the story, but need more to make it all feel completed.

Amanda Abeillan gave me a focus point to hold on to throughout the entire audio. I found her comforting. The words were there. The story was there. There connection was spotty.

More please!

Two thousand years was an amazing listen and totally worth it! Firstly, the writing was very creative and well done. I appreciated the dedication M. Dalto make to showing us what we need to see instead of simply explaining it. Alex was definitely my favorite character because of her spunk and sass! I appreciated this strong heroine and how she coped with life, which was so relatable. The story totally whisks you away from reality and you can’t help but fall in love and feel attached to the characters and storyline. I also adored Treylan, and even admired Dalto’s villain. Full of romance, adventure and a unique alternate universe, this was an incredible read and I am totally looking forward to book two!
