Publisher's summary

So many secrets are buried within these compound walls. I used to be one of those secrets. After returning to the Diotech compound and undergoing an experimental new memory alteration, Seraphina is now a loyal, obedient servant to Dr. Alixter and the powerful company that created her. Happy and in love with Kaelen, another scientifically-enhanced human designed to be her perfect match, Sera's history with a boy named Zen is just a distant memory from a rebellious past she longs to forget.

But as Sera and Kaelen embark on a nationwide tour to promote Diotech's new product line - a collection of controversial genetic modifications available to the public - Sera's mind starts to rebel. She can't stop the memories of Zen from creeping back in.

As more secrets are revealed, more enemies are uncovered, and the reality of a Diotech-controlled world grows closer every day, Sera will have to choose where her true loyalties lie, but it's a choice that may cost her everything she's ever loved.

A Book that Keeps it real

What other book might you compare Unchanged to and why?

Hunger games, Divergent

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The very end, when she made the decision that she was the one in control and changed the world and ended her experiment.

Any additional comments?

This book was amazing, It held a little bit of everything, Time travel, Super humans, and a love triangle. But it was kept real. She didn't whine she took it like a woman. Burnt at the stake in 1600's, put in to foster care in 2013, Saving her loves life in 2032, and finial show down in 2160. (dates are a bit off). The book kept it real in what and how se would react if it was real, and im a fan girl for books that don't have that happy ending. Strong triangle romance to melt your hear, action packed and a story line that makes you think.

Narrator is awesome!

I started this series because of the narrator (she's my favorite). I finished this series because the author captured me with her words! Loved it

Unremembered, Unforgotten, and Unchanged

At its heart this series is about how corporate greed can so easily come to define a society. Its about how misguided ambitions can masquerade as technologies that are revolutionary. As well, this tale is about how consumers come to covet products and services without even questioning the safety of what is being bought and the motivations of the makers of products. In this case the product happens to be genetic enhancements but it is possible to substitute any service or product on the market today for the Sci fi tech described in this tale. Brody's writing style complements Julia Whelan's narrative skills to build a series full of realistic characters facing difficult choices. Whelan masters the heartless and manipulative villain as well as the innocent and passionate heroine who has her mind wiped again and again. Together these 3 books challenge readers to consider what parts of humanity are worth preserving and what parts are worth fighting against.

Bittersweet

Not the ending I expected but very well done. Very surprising. The narrator was great for the whole series

Bittersweet!

The last installment of the Unremembered series was probably the best in my opinion. I couldn't quit listening to it. It was super action packed and full of twists and turns. Serafina has had her memories so messed up and the associated feelings that go with them to the point in this third book she is not the girl we knew in books one and two. She is guilt ridden and anxious and trying to please Dr. A. She has been brain washed to think the "objective" is all that matters.

She is manipulated by those for her and also by those who want to bring the company down and her along with it. After some serious events occur she looks for the origins of who she really is. There is a lot of soul searching in this book, though she wonders if she has a soul.

It did not end at all how I thought it might. It was a bittersweet melancholy ending and I keep thinking about it. I'm not happy about the ending but I am satisfied with it even though it would not have been my first choice.

I've read a lot of YA series and this one could just as easily be categorized with adult fantasy. I'm sad it's over.
